I have always seen these tube like things on the top rotating part of a tank. There's usually 3 on each side of the rotating part, and they are like curved outward. What are they for, what do they do?

Thanks...

Smoke projectors. They rapidly fire smoke grenades in the event the tank comes under fire, needs to duck out of combat, or to screen movements of accompanying infantry. Available in various configurations since WWII, these projectors have also been used to fire traditional explosives in a point defense role when in close contact with enemy infantry.

Can't answer you, sorry bro, but I know a great resource for everything Tank. It's called "Jane's" Janes publishes references on almost everything military (jets, boats, guns, armor) you name it. So look for Jane's Armor, or Jane's Tanks reference next time at a book store or get on Amazon.com and find one there. Good Luck!!

Smoke grenade projectors.

They are used to make a rapid screen of smoke to hide the vehicle if they detect that the enemy has fired some kind of optically-tracked wire-guided anti-tank missile at them.

The tank pops smoke, and then makes an evasive maeuver to avoid the AT missile.

Really can't tell what you are describing, but they might be intake ports for fresh air, I understand they are direct-able to the engines or the air-conditioning system, or both, sort of like super filters for dust and other bad stuff.
