Adding straps to a strapless gown is an easy adjustment. Perhaps even the bridal shop can do this for a small fee. Have you asked them? They do all sorts of other alterations so I wouldn't think it should be a problem!

My advice- search for the dress you want without straps. You can easily have straps added to your dress. It's a very small fee (less than 50 dollars), and no one will ever know that you had the dress altered. I know from personal experience, because my sister did this with her wedding dress. She tucked the straps in during the ceremony, but at the reception she wore her dress strapless... she didn't want her guests seeing anything not PG!!! Choose the dress you want in a strapless style, then have straps added. Congratulations, and good luck!

you'll have plenty of more options if you look for BOTH types of dresses (strapless (but sew straps on) or with straps). I know a few girls that found two different types of dresses they liked (they liked the top part of this dress and the bottom of another), and they showed the pictures to a tailor (or grandma) and they sewed the dresses for them out of scratch.

It would be a very simple thing for a seamstress to do. The straps most people see tucked in the strapless gowns, are the straps used to hang them up.If your gown has to be hemmed, ask for the fabric to have the straps made. This is the most inexpensive way to go.

i was looking for the same thing
and found it very frustrating looking on websites for dresses
i went to a local bridal shop and told then i wanted a dress with straps.
they told me almost all strapless dresses came with straps anyway at no extra cost and just get tacked in (doesn't add to support if you need it ... just the look)

Yes, actually many strapless dresses do come with spaghetti straps (although that may not be in the actual description of the dress). Your alterations person can attach them for you.

I have tried on many strapless dresses at boutiques. A lot of them actually have straps tucked into them. I have also seen some dresses with extra fabric. Good Luck.
