Their curiosity reflects a deep yearning for the spirit. They mock the unknown because of fear. You don't have to believe in God but we should respect people's religious views.

Like many religious people you base your question on an incorrect assumption. I am a good example of the type of person to which you refer. I am not religious and I take exception to the nonsense that many religious people pass of as fact and If I see a religious question that contains statements that I disagree with I have just as much right as anyone else to express my view in my answer.
Now regarding your assumption, you assume that people like me click in this section, eg the religious section but that is not always so. I often go the the general category section which includes everything, I do this because I like variety.
You ask does it make us feel better to mock or tease others and that is a rather distorted view of non believers. Many people who do not believe in religion find it extremely irritating when religious people talk absolute rubbish and pass it off as fact even though there is absolutely no proof, evidence or logic for their fanciful claims.
I don't think this justifies teasing or mocking and in most cases non believers don't tease or mock they just give their opinions as you do. There will always be some however, who will tease and mock and although that must be irritating to many religious people, many religious people do rather leave themselves wide open to it. If you say stupid things people will think you are stupid and say so and it is an absolute fact that huge numbers of religious people say the most stupid things. You get what you ask for.

Everyone has a right to click on this section, whether they believe in God or not. While some may get their kicks out of mocking and teasing others, there are also others who are seriously searching for answers to things spiritual and about God.
My advise would be for you to not take to heart those nasty or teasing comments posted but to accept them as part and parcel of the game. No need to get upset or mad! Remember, you cannot have roses without thorns. We just need to learn to pick out what is good from what is bad, and also once in a while, have a good hearty laugh at the silly replies given to the questions.

People who have no religion still have legitimate reasons to come here. They may just be wanting to know something about other religions, to inform themselves. Or they may already know something about religions, and wish to share their knowledge. You do not have to be religious to know about religion. In fact, many Atheists take a keen interest in religion. It is fascinating for them, perhaps because they are astounded by what others are capable of believing.
The ones who mock, however, I think come here just to mock! They can't do this in polite society and get away with it. But the internet is an impersonal forum where they can say what is really on their minds, without fearing any serious consequences. I do not agree with them at all. I think they can hurt people. I think they forget that there are real human beings behind these avatars and screen names that can be hurt by what they type.

Are you totally blameless in teasing others?
Have you never condemned a non-believer to Hell, by telling them they'll burn if they don't love Jesus? Or a homosexual, or anyone else? Do you preach at people? Call names? Even in the privacy of your own home?
We all have a right to be here. It's Religion and Spirituality, not Christians Only.

So you are yet another god botherer screaming for attention. I've never been hassled in the street by an atheist wanting to tell me there is no good news. But many times I've been inconvenienced by believers who stop me in my daily activity, or come to my door.
I do not visit the Religion & Spirituality area specifically, just reespond to any message sthat appear in the general Y!A recent Question lists. Any outrageous religious claims are fair game as far as I can see.

Thinking about things without being emotional, a sort of straightforward approach, I think this:
If you believe in God and talk about it and then when you die there is no God, you just wink out of existance, then you won't be upset that you were wrong.
If you don't believe in God and talk about it and it turns out that there is a God after all, then you're stuffed.
Just an idea.
I wouldn't ridicule someone for their beliefs in anything and I'll keep my beliefs personal because they aren't the same as anyone elses.

Alot of them are kids not adults which is demonstrated by there ignorance of worldly topics such as faith and religion. They're rebelling like all good little kids do. When they grow up and find focus to their life's things get alot more serious. With jobs, mortgages and children of their own issues of life and death, spiritual and God become more pressing. They're a waste of time right now. But most of us went through this silly infantile stage before breaking through to maturity.

What makes you so sure they are Mocking all things & if they do or don't believe in God ? Don't believe everything you read. Besides why would you even care. Yahoo is the one who made up the mixed categories...ask for a new one with your name on it!

Well, at least you get of lightly...not like the atheists before who used to get burned at the stake.
But honestly, it is something that affects us all and we have to prevent all this nonsense from continuing to cause so much pain and suffering.
It does not make me feel better but it amazes me that with free education, TV, the Internet, books, science and your brain (which you can choose to use or not), people still believe in some fairy tales while saying that other fairy tales are not true.
