You can eat a different diet to re-wire your brain's biochemistry. It may take a few months, but if you stick to a certain eating plan, your biochemistry changes and you become calm, and focused. Most people can stop using drugs along the way.

You did not say if you are the ADHD or if it is a child. My son now 32 was ADHD and could ot take meds. It was a blessing I took control and didn't let the school handle his schedule. If you stack the classes- one think and then a PE one think and then art- you get the picture. I also made sure he didn't get the old battle axes for teachers. As he grew, we did every sport, he study eastern meditation, Bruce Lee books were quite helpful- he had to be busy, so we made it good busy. I would have to change friends at half day because he would wear them out. If you are older- I hear marijuana actualy calms , and allows for study- but it is illegal unless you live in a state that has medical marijuana. - No nasty side effects like the prescription drugs. AdHD usually makes you impulsive, buying on impulse, and very dis organized. Try to get rid of all the clutter- things like moving throw you for a complete tizzy, It was explained the knowledge is up there, just not filed away where it is easy to retrieve. Verbal testing isa much better way for a child to make their grades. Punishment should be what fits- don't torture yourself by having them house bound for two weeks.
The rages were the hardest to deal with. He out grew those.
One of the best things I ever did was had two complete sets of books at school - one for home and one for the school- he would forget to bring the work home and panic.
If it is a child , let him play after school, then do home work- he needs a break. I have amillion things we did but , some parents are willing to put in the effort. He graduated with a 3.75 no drugs.

Well, to be honest, the research states that medication and psychotherapy are the best treatment for ADHD. Ritalin and its various preparations have been around since the 1960s and are pretty safe. That being said, some people still do not want to take medication and that choice needs to be respected. Some psychologists will recommend studying martial arts as a way to teach individuals how to focus and control impulses.

Good luck.

there are many ways to improve attn span of a person.
try a sport or musical instrument that you like a lot. it will make you want to focus more and will exercise your focusing abilities.
this adhd bullcrap was made by pharmaceutical companies so that they can sell their bullcrap medicines to you.
back in the days there was no such thing as adhd. some say columbus had "adhd". his short attn span made him want to travel the world and discover. imagine if he was given meds to "cure" it.

pharmaceutical companies can claim chemical imbalances. but remember chemical imbalances dont always have to be treated by other chemicals from pills. you can change chemical make up thru temperature, diet etc.

I've seen first hand, to my surprise, a great number of successes using Dianetics. www.dianetics.org

They've had a great many successes with things that have been unresponsive to treatment.
