I think gold walls would look great, or tan. For the couch and chairs maybe cream or dark green.

There are several option you can go with, it's all a matter of your taste and style. Depending on your feminine or masculine tastes. Since your carpet is a burgundy, for a feminine touch go with a floral or paisley patterns with the burgundy in the mix. It goes great with greens and blues. For a more masculine look, try using solid dark colors like brown, blue, greens. Also, if you're able, try painting one of your walls with an accent color. Like a nice navy or forest green. Generally, you'd want to paint the wall where you first see the room or where you host your sofa. If you're feeling bold enough, try painting wide and narrow vertical patterns with 2 or 3 colors choices. To create a blended/melding feature, make one of the color choices that of your carpet.

How about a soft mossy green for the walls and then use the tan color in the rug for the couch

You could try a hunter green or a navy blue would look nice. if you are looking for a lighter color you could go for some lighter shade of rose or light redish color.
