What I mean is that they don't stop and think that they are offending other people

I don't mean any offense to Christians. I just see some Christians quoting.

Well, people are going to quote what they believe, of course, but I understand that you are asking why people quote the Bible when there are others who may be offended by that. The answer is simple.
Why stop being yourself because other people might be offended? If you believe in your heart that you know something that could save someone, and don't share it, then you are doing something wrong. I don't want to say people quoting the Bible don't CARE if they offend others, but there are things in life that are more important that making friends and keeping everyone happy.
The Bible describes believers as the salt of the earth, and says that if salt loses its saltiness, it has no purpose. Salt irritates, but thats part of its nature....
Make sense? I am not trying to offend you, just trying to explain what i think.

I don't always quote the Bible, but sometimes quotes are the best and most direct answer. Don't forget that we all work from and maintain our own belief system; and this is the home of belief systems.

Some Christians seem unable to function between systems. They won't pick up on the best that someone else offers and try to relate. They may have divine authority but show no concern or wisdom. There are a number of trolls who pick up on this and add to it a total lack of good manners. I often doubt that those who show no concern or wisdom are really what they claim to be.

Over the past few decades human beliefs and interests have become more and more polarized. Some people have also made a camp game called theist/atheist. Some pretend to be Christian and bait the atheist camp. Others throw "stupid Chrisian" bait. This becomes nothing but a soap opera. You can, once in a while, find blogs or 360s where they congratulate each other on the latest dump they have taken on Yahoo Answers.

So, my obsession or yours?

I will try to be more sensitive in the future. I do realize that other people have beliefs. The only people who don't have beliefs, would you agree, are either dead or asleep?

Please don't be offended by quotes from the Bible, it is not at all a negative or offensive book. This book is a collection of accounts to give believers the wisdom, hope and understanding that God wants us to have. This is what we go by in order to be better as a people. It is not meant to harm or disturb anyone!

If you don't read the Bible or use a Bible, that is fine. I mean no harm to anyone when I quote the Bible, I use scripture quotes to support my beliefs. Just to support them, not to start trouble.

If anyone else quotes from the Bible, they must feel strong about the statement. It means they believe in that statement and want to prove how they came to that perspective.

There is only one God, He is just accepted and interpreted differently by different groups. He does love us all.

God bless you, always

you could study lots from the Bible, yet i think of you need to study it with a undeniable attitude. the element is that the Bible is God's observe. in case you do not have self assurance, you will no longer hear Him. you will no longer have the perception of the Holy Spirit. it rather is to no longer say that that's thoroughly impossible. there have been lots of people who've come to Christ basically by analyzing the Bible, each and every so often a stolen Bible from a hotel room. If it may no longer, the Gideons does no longer be dropping their time. that's in simple terms for you to the two be at a low element the place you're truly desiring God, or you need to be open to the prospect.

We find the Bible to be the only Truth worth quoting. Why would I quote anything that I didn't believe in? The Word of God is the most powerful Word on this earth. I'm sorry that you do not believe. I read quotes from other people. Christ Jesus seems to be the only God that unnerves people. I find that fascinating and absolutely wonderful.

I quote the Bible as a reference so that folks can see that what I'm saying is in Scripture. I've seen Muslims quote the Quran and Atheists quote articles, websites and other things as well.

Here in R & S you are free to quote/cite sources to make your point. At least that way, you won't appear to be blowing smoke up the ummm chimney :)

Because of what it says in the Bible about God's Word, that's why.

Romans 10:13 For "everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved." 14 But how are they to call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching? 15 And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written,

"How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!"

16 But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Isaiah says, "Lord, who has believed what he has heard from us?" 17 So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.

Psalms 19:7 The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple.

If someone has different beliefs what does that matter? Just because someone sincerely believes something doesn't make it true. Many people have been sincerely wrong about what they believed in.

If you ask a question I'm going to answer from the Bible.
Other Religions respect the Bible.
2 Tim 3:16 All Scripture is inspired of God and beneficial for teaching, for reproving, for setting things straight, for disciplining in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be fully competent, completely equipped for every good work.

I don't understand that either. I mean, if unbelievers don't value the bible, don't see it as sacred, or as the literal book of God - why would quoting verses at us make any difference?

Why would we care what it says? For some reason they seem to think that if we hear these verses quoted to us then we will suddenly understand an convert.

But if we hold no value to the bible in the first place - why would we care?

I think they know that they are offending other people sometimes. But think about it... if you really believed with all that was in you that people that didn't believe in and love Jesus Christ were going to burn in hell for eterenity... wouldn't you be telling everyone? I think that they just care about others and want to keep saying things so that people will keep thinking about it so that maybe one day they will see. ?? Just a thought.... Christians are not the only one throwing their religion out there.... lots of religions are doing it... Why pick on just Christians?
