sorry got to go with you on this, my grandmother would do the same and yes I know I am a bit anal about stuff like that but it would send me nuts she rarely would wash her hands / body and then still expect you to be OK with her touching the same good you was eating, her other pet one would be to remove food from your plate WHILST you was eating..............that would send me NUTZ............
Regards....not sure how to deal with it, I would just put my knife and fork down and would not eat any more, my mum was OK with this as she knew how badly it would annoy me.

I probably wouldn't care, I'm not a germaphobic. But it would depend a little on what grandma's been doing; if she's changed diapers on the grandkids and hasn't washed her hands, or if she's just been sitting around knitting or reading a book and hasn't washed her hands :-)
There is a difference between germs from family members or germs from strangers, at least if you see them often enough. We build up resistance to germs we come into contact with a lot -the germs we find around the house, the germs we carry, the germs people we're very close to carry. We don't have that resistance to strange germs. This is also why we have to be more careful with what we eat and drink when traveling, especially in third world countries... yes, people there do get sick more often, it's not really healthy for them either, but they can still handle it much better than we can, in many places if we eat at the cheapy eateries or drink the local water untreated, we get the runs right away, while the locals are mostly fine with it. Locally it's similar, sure, it's better to wash your hands as you can pass something on that you've just picked up and that's new to the whole family... but the germs you've carried for a bit longer, you and your close family have some resistance against those.

It largely depends on the family member. Though it doesn't seem to bother my sister at all, there's no way I would eat after her child child; I can barely stand to watch the kid eat much less consider eating something onto which he has put his grubby little hands.
I certainly wouldn't eat food touched by my sister, who (being the mommy of a child still in diapers) is a haven for germs and nauseating substances.
But my grandmother? Nope, I'd have no problem eating food from her hands. She obviously touched it while she was preparing it, and how many meals have I eaten that she has made? Thousands, at least.
I learned to cook from her, and I know well how much food-fondling goes on in her kitchen (and mine, for that matter). Tearing apart meat, kneading dough, chopping vegetables, mixing dry goods, separating eggs. Preparing almost every meal is a tactile experience. I'd have no problem at all eating food Granny has touched.

I wouldn't touch that food, although I would feel bad the food will go to waste though, you have no idea were those hands have been especially if that person has just come from the toilet and hasn't washed their hands.

As a mom of two boys the seen them coming to me whilst they're 18 and asserting "mom i desire to connect the protection rigidity" scares the heck outta me! Why u ask?! because of the fact the seen them being put in harms way. i do no longer desire to be a type of moms that cant sleep at nighttime understanding their baby might in no way come domicile lower back (much less in container) i does not have the potential to tackle it. in the event that they ever have been to return to a call to connect, im particular Gaby and that i might communicate it with them, yet no longer discourage them. don't get me incorrect, im no longer against turning out to be a member of the protection rigidity, yet im no longer involved in it the two. I pray for the households that have their kinfolk in the protection rigidity, and those that lost kinfolk on an identical time as serving our u . s .. I know all protection rigidity workers and could be perpetually thankful for what they did and are doing. yet having my own flesh and blood on the line is a few thing i cant undergo.

Germs are germs no matter whose they are. No, I would not care to eat food someone put hands all over.

Hands...no matter who they belong to...
carry germs, viruses and diseases.
Grandma's have germs too.
If she's that careless about personal hygiene, I bet she doesn't wash after wiping herself when finished going to the toilet either.
Next time insist that Grandmama wash her hands.
