Yep, that is a scary possibility. The odds of it happening anytime soon are minimal. But science will be what warns us it is coming.
And it is good to see that you are watching The History Channel. They have some great programing. Maybe you should give The Science Chanel a shot every once in a while.

someone just watched a show on the History chanel and is in panic, well that will not happen in several thousand years, but God has saved humanity many times before so i can count on him

Well since it most likely will be a dome type eruption it likely will not cause much trouble. If it was a cone type eruption then it is a different matter.
