will i have to keep taking the calcium pills the rest of my life to keep my bones from hurting,will the calcium pills damage my body in anyway ,is 1000 miligrams 3 times a day too much for a woman of 90 pounds

Yes, unfortunately for those of us without thyroid glands. The thyroid gland used to produce calcium for us. Now we have to supplement because there is no natural calcium being produced anymore.

I'm sorry to hear of your thyroidectomy. I've been without mine from cancer for six years now.

Most likely your parathyroid glands were removed alongside and your blood calcium level is dropping. Severely low Calcium level is a known cause of sudden cardiac arrest and resuscitation might be really difficult.
This I think is of more significance apart from the effects on your bones. Don't think the dosage is much for your weight but think a regular check on the blood calcium level might be necessary.

if the Dr tells you to take them do so=your thyroid isn't there any more =I would have though the Dr would have put you on thyroid medication =ask him =good luck
