Its time America for us to take a stand and have these people in State and Federal Offices to raise the speed limits. I am sick of doing 65 & 70 mph on the freeway and I know I can go much faster and still be safe. Well tell me how you feel about this issue?

I live in Florida.... Today I saw an accident scene that gave me the chills. I was driving from Tampa to Ft Myers, FL and saw a car that had flipped over several times, and was so flat and damaged that I could not discern what make or model it was. Traffic came to a comlete halt and took well over 45 minutes to travel 2 miles. The posted speed limit of this particular highway is 70mph, which means most people go about 80mph or faster and are not very courteous either.

The point of my short story, which in fact is true, is that while YOU might be able to drive faster, there are other people on the road that are not comfortable at that rate of speed and many commercial vehicles that are governed to 75mph or lower that you need to pay attention and yield to when they signal.

I'm not sure where you live, and the volume of traffic may be much lower, but for where I live and work, in many cases, the speed limit is either too high or just right. In fact, we could use stiffer enforcement of the speed limit so that people might in fact drive a little safer here. But, that is only relative to where I live and my experience here.

Where are you going that you need to use gasoline faster? By the way, you are probably the least qualified to judge whether you can safely drive faster. Every year I see people killed because they didn't have a clue what to do when an emergency arose at high speed. Our roads are not built to tolerances that support much higher speeds. In comparing with the Autobahn, there is not a road in Canada or the US that has a base greater than 25% of the Autobahn base, and there is not a road that is patrolled daily checking for problems as they do on the Autobahn. And for all the yakking about high speed being safe, accidents on the Autobahn are spectacular. Imagine driving 100 mph and hitting a fog bank.

If you want to go faster, the only thing stopping you is common sense.
A lot of people drive faster than the posted limit, and often don't get ticketed for speeding.
Some do.
Some cause multiple fatality crashes.
Some only kill themselves.

It doesn't matter if YOU can drive faster safely most of the time. Not everyone can.
Speed limits are a PUBLIC SAFETY measure.
Thery are set to provide the SAFE flow of traffic, not the fastest available flow. That's why school zones are set to low speeds, for safety, not for frustrating drivers who know they can safely drive at 80 under certain conditions.

I once wrote to Gov. Jon Corzine of New Jersey, explaining how when they increased the speed limit from 60 to 65 M.P.H., it resulted in an increase of 24% of fatalities on the New Jersey Turnpike (FACT).

Now he's just been injured on the Garden State Expressway.

People on our highways do anywhere from 70 to 90 M.P.H.

I just let them pass me by.

My prayers go with our Governor now, and hopefully this problem will be addressed soon.

Increasing limits when newer type vehicles can't withstand the impact results in something much worse than Iraq is experiencing now.

Sometimes things need to be prioritized.

the faster you go, the more gas will be. so if you want a 80mph speed limit, expect to pay $4.50+ for gas in the east and around $7.25 in the west.

get it out of your head about speed and all. those days are coming to a very fast end. soon you won't drive like you do now, but be commute car or train or something. gas is on its way out and fast.

So you are saying that you would rather inhibit the safety of others for your own personal pleasure. Speed limits are set that way for a reason. They are now even trying to give the Autobahn a speed limit.

Here in Indiana nearly everyone drives 80 even tho the speed limit is 65 and 70. People ride your *** if you don't.

properly i have in no way ever been a speeder less than any situations. yet when I first began gaining awareness of tocontinual i replaced into instructed the slower you drove the a lot less gas you take advantage of, and prefer you i'm completely positive of that. Been doing it for years, and if I overlook by technique of very few mph my husband jogs my memory how a lot gas prices. everybody could attempt it they could develop into believers. sturdy for you.

if u really want to go fast, just get a gsxr-750. that will outrun practically all 4 wheelers, but u wont be able to outrun motorola, or aircraft. if u biff it, u'll only kill urself and not trigger a multi-car pileup that will get innocents killed also. i have a feeling u wont last a month into the season.
