What do you think of this person's view?
It started when Jesus took the throne in heaven;
AD 1896, the 3rd Millennium.
And there was war in heaven. Michael and his angels
fought against the dragon, and the dragon and his angels
fought back. But he was not strong enough, and they
lost their place in heaven. The great dragon was hurled
down - that ancient serpent called the devil, or Satan,
who leads the whole world astray. He was hurled to the
earth, and his angels with him
"But woe to the earth and the sea, because the devil
has gone down to you!
He is filled with fury, because he knows
that his time is short."
(REV. 12:7-17)

Pick up an history book and read the rest of the story.
Probably the bloodiest century on record. Not just all
the wars, but the wholesale slaughter of the brethren;
12,000,000 or more in Europe alone.
By destroying Christians and Jews, Satan believes he
can thwart G-D's plans.
Thoughts?

God is winnowing the wheat and the chaff. This can be seen by not only the rise in atheism, but the widening gap between the two as well. Read why this is here...

Don't worry. God saw this and it is all part of the plan.

So... you arbitrarily picked 1896 as a point in time when a dragon landed on earth and started killing people?... The prevalence of bloodshed couldn't possibly have anything to do with the fact that there was a much greater available ammount of blood to spill than in previous generations I suppose... And the devil kind of lost interest in anything other than what is a minor skirmish on the grand scale now in the last 50 years I guess... All this sounds logical to me.

Short version:

He's an idiot.

Long version:

The reason it's one of the bloodiest centuries on record is because we had better means of communication, transport and, frankly, killing each other.

However:

If you want a really bloody century then check out the Eleventh. Or the Twelfth. Or Thirteenth.

You get the picture.

Atheism is growing because the boundaries of ignorance are being constantly pushed back---We now know the earth is round---not flat & standing on pillars as the Bible asserts--we can now measure the microwaves from the "Big Bang"--we now have the fossil proof of evolution-& although people are still being killed in the name of God---that excuse is wearing very thin--as we can see from Bush's poll numbers--Both Hitler & Bush claimed to kill to honor God--we are not going to put up with that crap any longer!!

I stopped reading after the first two sentences, all BLAH BLAH religious stories. Maybe atheism is growing because people are becoming more intelligent to religion, being it only a form of social control.

Isn't the human imagination wonderful ? All this "war in heaven", "angels and dragons ", that started back in the super-superstitious medieval days, refuses to go away. This is the twenty-first century. Fairy tales are great for the kids, but they should be taught that they are just fairy tales.

Because there are many alternatives out there that seem much more logical than "God spake it into existence." While I do believe it was all created, I can see how there can be disbelief. There's just not enough proof for some people.

Jesus took what throne in 1896?

you neglect to mention the population explosion of the 20th C... more people were born than have ever died. technology makes it easier to kill en masse, but it also saves/prolongs more lives.

it's easy to wrap vague, nonsensical prophesies around anything; that doesn't make them accurate.

maybe it's time to live responsibly rather than pretend angels or demons are playing chess with us.

Atheism is growing because people reject such extraordinary explanations as you have given, for which there exists no evidence outside of a psychologically disturbed mind.
