Mormon theology is not compatible with that of main stream or historic Christianity,as they deny the deity of Jesus Christ..and further believe that as God is man may become

There are many other errors,in my opinion, that were birthed and propogated by prophets of both factions of the LDS churches(namely,Joseph Smith and Brigham Young)...

Quite ironically,I follow the teachings of 2 of Brigham Young's descendents,Dr. Walter Martin (christian apologeticist, author of "The Kingdom of the Cults" and Dr Robert O. Young 4x PHD(bio-chemist) author of the "PH Miracle"

Definitely Christian ... Dualist? Well, there is no question that in LDS beliefs, the body and the spirit are two different parts (entities?). Regarding the mind, there is a neurological component, like the emotional amygdala (belonging to the body part) and a spiritual component that is sensitive to the Spirit (Holy Ghost--and therefore a spiritual part). To tell you the truth, it would be interesting to me to see Joseph Smith and Rene Descartes chatting next to the fire.

It really an awesome subject, but one that will probably be answered correctly in Heaven's library.

I don't think it's either. I think it's a cult. All Mormons I've met are strange, narrow minded, think they are right about EVERYTHING, and out of their mind. Also, why would a Christian religion promote polygamy? Mormonism is what creates these polygamy cults where children are married at 12 and bearing children at 14. I have also heard of Mormon leaders telling the "followers" how to scam the government. Sorry if I offend you. I am sure not all mormons are like this. I'm just speaking from experience.

I decided to look up Dualist on dictionary.com to find out just what you were asking - regarding theology the definitions are:

"Dualists (Theology).
a. the doctrine that there are two independent divine beings or eternal principles, one good and the other evil.
b. the belief that a human being embodies two parts, as body and soul. "

If you ask me, sounds like all Christians are dualists - a decribing the dichotomy between God and Satan, and b talking about all of us consisting of our bodies and spirits.

Sooo, I guess you're answer is both.

We believe in Jesus Christ but our beliefs about Him are a bit different from other Christian Religions...

We believe that Jesus Christ is "the Word" in the Old Testament (John 1).. In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God.. etc...

We believe that Jesus Christ CREATED the Physical Universe having been given the power of God to do so and under God's direction...

Jesus Christ Created the Earth and all that is on it Physically...

We believe that Jesus is the God of the Old Testament, He is the one that talked with the Prophets up until His birth upon the Earth in Physical form...

We believe that Jesus Christ voluntarily died for our sins and that while His body was in the tomb His Spirit went to the Spirit Prison, fought with Satan and freed the Spirits there...

We believe that after Jesus Christ left His Disciples on the European Continent He came to the Americas and taught the people here...

We be live that God the Father and Jesus Christ are two separate beings with Physical bodies and that the Holy Ghost is also a separate being but with no Physical body...

We believe that God the Father and Jesus Christ appeared to Joseph Smith and made him a Prophet in the modern world...

You can read any of our scriptures at our web site.. or download our music in MP3 form if you wish... all for FREE

This question is easily answered by asking the question.... Are Catholics Christian? Are Methodist Christians? Are Lutheran's Christian? Are Baptist Christian's? Are Jehovah Witness Christian's? etc.....

Just because individuals choose to belong to a Church of Christ that have a different name and different beliefs then another does not mean that they are not Christians. The foundation of these Church's are Christ based.

Just because we are all so different does not mean that we are not all the same and yes, all Christ based Church's are dualist.

All Christian groups are dualist by their own definition. If god is more powerful than satan and can overthrow him right now, why hasn't he. My philosophy is that nothing can exist without is opposite. So if good exist, bad exist. If black exists, then white exists, and so forth. The birth of god, therefore, coincides to the second to the birth of satan, they were created at the same time and they have to co-exist. The demise of one would predicate the demise of the other. Think Yin and Yang./

Mormon's believe that God was once man and became an exalted man. And that we all can become gods.

And that Jesus had a lot of brothers and sisters etc and wasn't the savior as other Christians view him to be.

Most Christians feel that Mormons broke God's command at the end of Revelation to not add anything.

There is also the almost cult like tithing, the low position of women (we can't be gods and have our own planets like men).

In a nutshell I would have to say no - that Mormons do not resemble other Christians - they do not believe that Jesus was the son of God, that he came to die for our sins, that God is the only God and is also three persons, to name a few differences.

Of course they are Christians. If you use the logic that some do in claiming they are not a wise person could come to the conclusion that perhaps Mormons are the only true Christians.

Of course Mormons are Christians. It's the only church that has Jesus AND Christ in the name.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

We believe in God, the Eternal Father, and in His Son, Jesus Christ, and in the Holy Ghost.

We believe that through the Atonement of Christ, all mankind may be saved, by obedience to the laws and ordinances of the Gospel.

We believe that the first principles and ordinances of the Gospel are: first, Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ; second, Repentance; third, Baptism by immersion for the remission of sins; fourth, Laying on of hands for the gift of the Holy Ghost.

We believe in the same organization that existed in the Primitive Church, namely, apostles, prophets, pastors, teachers, evangelists, and so forth.

We believe the Bible to be the word of God as far as it is translated correctly; we also believe the Book of Mormon to be the word of God.

We claim the privilege of worshiping Almighty God according to the dictates of our own conscience, and allow all men the same privilege, let them worship how, where, or what they may.

We believe in being honest, true, chaste, benevolent, virtuous, and in doing good to all men; indeed, we may say that we follow the admonition of Paul—We believe all things, we hope all things, we have endured many things, and hope to be able to gendure all things. If there is anything virtuous, lovely, or of good report or praiseworthy, we seek after these things.
