That's an interesting question. I think some are just out for money and not really caring about who God is or what they are teaching people.
There are some who start out with good intent and even a good message, but then Satan starts working on them through greed and power. He knows the weaknesses and loves to see a good man fall.
I'd never attempt to say which is which

don't be insulting to atheists and agnostics. Televangelists are the most delusional of the delusional. they think they are chosen by God and are reaping the rewards of doing Gods work. they are the equivalent of Satan .they are the supreme self worshippers./look at how patheticly clownish many of them appear on TV. appear like a SNL parody

I think they start out with a love a Jesus, but then the pressure to make the money to pay the bills gets to them and they lose focus on why they are doing what they are doing.
I would therefore, call them misguided wolves.
Athough some of them (like L Ron Hubbard) are strictly in it for the $$$$.

I have often wondered about that myself. When so many are caught doing very unsavory and certainly un-christlike things, can they really believe all the crap they spew. I think they may actually just be fundamentally (no pun intended) sick and twisted people.
