Do I believe in Tarot cards? Well they exist, so just as the keyboard I'm typing on exists, I believe in the reality of them yes. I also feel they are a great way to access you. I don't normally do predictive type readings. I prefer to work to build a clients inner knowledge, responsibility and strength. The cards can help in that growth.

A quick true story: For fun, both for myself and the mailman, I would drawn 3 cards occasionally for him. Because it was fun, I knew he wasn't going to do something because "I said" it, I did more predictive type readings. I told him his mother-in-law was coming to live with him. True. I saw his wife pregnant, true. There were other things as well, but both of those are simple answers. However neither of these really helped him. Although fun, this type of reading isn't truly helpful and not why I love the Tarot. I prefer to help people create the future they want. Not what the card tell them will happen, but to be responsible for making their life what they choose to live.

Nothing is 100% right all the time. The future is fluid.

I am a professional Tarot Card reader as well as the president of the American Tarot Association (http://www.ata-tarot.com)

In my personal opinion, Tarot can indicate trends and upcoming events.

However, as I tell all my clients, there is no reason to look at the future if you are not willing to change things you are currently doing. If you were driving a car and the map said "Bridge Out Ahead" would you continue driving or would you change your course?

Same thing with Tarot!

For myself, I tend to approach the cards with a Jungian mindset of the cards being 78 windows to the soul. The archetype represented are tools to learn about ourselves.

You asked for a true story.

A recent client called me to tell me that the relationship difficulties I had seen were in the process of happening. He also told me that he remembered the advice of the cards and was applying it successfully to alleviate the situation.

Cards dont. The cards began as a game in europe I think (not alot of security here) it started about the 13th century as a game and when the Infamously exaggerated "burning times" occured they were used to act as proof of a heritic.
But now yea they are used for divination. the predictions come from the readers ability to interpret the cards. I prefer working the past than the future it's easier to decide if they work. And when I can draw the ace of rods followed by the chariot and the lovers when I asked them to tell me about my history with my fiance. (Rods- new growth and change. chariot- travel. lovers... yea obvious.) i'm content believing.
He is my first boy friend (6 years ago) lives in Italy (which I finally moved to about 2 years ago). lovers is too obvious.
I don't know about the future I ask for events years in the future. But the past it seems to work well.

I won't tell you a story but I will say they do work.Nobody knows how or why they do or really where they came from.It is said that the Druids used them.It is also been said that a early religious sect made the cards up to practice their faith without being caught by the rulers of their time.It is also the "father" of our playing cards of today. As far as working .if you know what you are doing yes they do.Do they predict bad as most people think?.Not really. Not even the death card is bad. That is nothing but birth and renewal.I guess it is all in the hands that guide them. For me I'll never be drawn into that again. You are not meant to know your own future.Only God knows it.

do you believe in socket wrenches?

Tarot Cards are a tool. they facilitate the reader to acess information and be shown things they might not otherwise be able to perceive.

I have a deck, and it worked for me the first try. I'd say its almost better to call them a meditational aid. ... its not like it gives you a book telling you explicitly what is going to happen, rather it provides a guiding insight.

They're supposed to be used as a guide, not necessarily to predict the future and live off of them that way. They can tell you what's going on, what MIGHT be, and sometimes how you might best act, depending on the spread and the question asked.

I don't discuss readings... they're supposed to be private.
