I have been looking at some of the questions and answers on this forum and I have to wonder if you Christians and you Atheists really do act this way in person or if it's the computer that makes it easy to be rude and unlovely

I'd have to protest that I do not treat people on here any different than I do in "real life" ... and I don't treat anyone rudely, although I have to admit that sometimes my answers seem a bit cold. I don't intend it that way though.

Well, I am not a Christian, or an Atheist, but I am going to answer anyway.

Yes, I do treat people on the street like I do here. I try and treat everyone the same. I do not purposely set out to be "rude and unlovely" but sometimes, after exhausting all other avenues, rude is all some people respond too, or understand.

The computer doesn't give me courage, I am who you see, I am the same on here as on the street.

Until someone gives me a reason to treat them differently, I will be cordial and polite. I won't say I treat them with respect because like trust that is something that is earned.

Well when I look at some of the answers and some of the questions which are only to try and bait people, I hope those people who do that don't.
I try to treat people with respect. I lost my cool one night when a person asked a question insinuating a friend of his who loves her dog and kisses it is perverted and Christians should speak out against it. I have kissed my animals on occasion on top of the head. But what really got to me, is I have known 3 different women who had no family and their pets were their family and I can tell you some heart breaking stories about the 3.
I just got hysterical that someone could be so judgemental.

I don't bash people on the Internet. It's stupid. I try to be a "good" person, especially since I am a Christian. It is easy for people to be billy badass on the computer because there is no repercussion for doing so. If they said some of the things on the street they say here, they may quickly see the inside of a body bag. I do however respect their opinions if they are being tactful about it and not just being stupid to cause trouble.

I'm sure they say these things because they are in front of their computers and not face to face with you. I'm 6 foot 5 and I'm a very loving person and treat others the way I want to be treated, with respect. I always try to treat others the way I would in person.

I try very hard to be consistent in my life. I am by nature a relatively kind person. I think my answers here are thoughtful and polite, though I will answer a funny question in a bit of a smart a** way sometimes.

Yes, if a person on the street asks me questions about religion.

Just the other day, someone asked me about atheism because of a bumper sticker I have on my car that indicates I am one. I took the time to politely answer all of his questions and explain my worldview, just as I do here.

My classmates call me spiteful and cold hearted...

But hey, I wouldn't say that sitting next to people in a classroom who failed an IQ test has anything to do with it.

But a random person on the street? I do try me best to be nice to them, but when religion gets in to the subject, I always expect bigotry and stereotyping.

No. The idea of being able to get away with saying something to someone online without the risk of a black eye only makes people feel more confident.

It would be great. I want someone to tell me half of the things they've said to my face :D

Of course no-one does. They are liars if they say they act the same in person as they do on the Internet. After all you can't get a fist in your craw at your PC like you can on the street!!!!!!!
