I'm selling my bike, asking $800, and someone is coming to look at it this evening. Should I put together any paperwork? Some sort of sales receipt or letter for the buyer to sign? I'm unsure about this whole process here. If theres anything I need to do like this, please let me know. By the way, I'm a minor. Thanks everyone!

well, since your concerned about it, all you need to do is write out a simple bill of sale, stating the manufacturer and model and any accessories you are selling with it, the price you are selling it for and the date. but, this would be for the buyer's protection, not yours as you would give it to him. you will be the one to sign it.

then, write out a receipt for yourself with the same information and stating, $800 received on this date and have him sign it for your records.

only accept cash. if they bring a check, ask them to go exchange it for cash stating that you have no checking account to runt he check through.

good luck and have fun with your bucks.

You really son't have to do any paperwork legally. But it is never a bad idea to put together a bill of sale that you both sign to acknowledge the transaction. Be sure to include the date, price, and serial number of bike. This will protect you just in case the buyer questions the sale later. Have the buyer sign two copies and keep one.

A bicycle IS NOT like an automobile. You don't need to paperwork it to death. Like some others said here, if you feel the need to do something, a simple receipt will do. It's up to you.

Get the cash and nothing else to do after that; unless the buyer ask for information on the bike or a reciept, which is fair to ask.....Good luck with the sale!!!
