What does kadian show up as on a drug screen, does it show as the same thing as most pain medicine? I know most of them show up as opiates and I was wondering does it show up as the same or different?

Morphine is an opiate-based drug. Therefore, you would test positive for use of opiates. However, if you have a prescription for it, take it with you to the drug screen and inform the tech. Secondary testing can be done on a drug screen to isolate any medications. On your inital screen, however, you would test positive. You would have to wait for the results of the secondary screen.

It shows up as what it is...an opiate and will test and show as MS - Morphine Sulphate.

It will be important to let the testing authority know about the medication prior to the drug screen so there won't be any surprises. Let them know the doctor's names, proof of the prescription and the dosage...either the 20mg, 30mg, 50mg, 60mg, 80mg or 100mg sustained released capsules.

My heart goes out to you as I live with someone who has unremitting pain. The purpose of extended release tablets is for pain management, that is maintaining the pain at a bearable level. My husband takes slow release Morphine and has short acting morphine tablets for break-through pain. Oxycontin did not work for him. I don't think you will be more tolerant to injected meds but perhaps you don't like needles. Whatever you do, work with your doctor for relief right now: the future is another step to be taken later. Have you been involved with a pain management clinic or specialist? Best of luck
