Thanks for all the info on Hell.
I'm coming from a different tradition, so this is all hard to imagine. What are your feelings on heaven? Being alive as myself in any form for all of eternity is very unappealing to me. Many faiths (Hindus, Jains, Sikhs, Jews, Buddhists, Pagans) don't believe in this type of heaven, so it seems to be unique to Christians and Muslims. Obviously, compared to hell, heaven is preferable, but living forever for all of eternity sounds sort of like a curse.
So my question is, is heaven something you've always wanted or is something you learn about and then choose to strive for? I hear people talking about heaven in a positive way, but before last Sunday, I didn't realize they were referring to a literal place where they would live forever. I thought they meant something like nirvana, which is almost the opposite. So why do you want to go to heaven (aside from the fact that it is better than hell)?
Please don't be rude people.

Well . . . contrary to popular belief the Bible does NOT say that we will be in heaven forever. If I am a Chrisitan, I must get what I know from the Bible, or some scholar that has dug into the ancient languages thereof, in order to tell you anything that I didn't make up.
It's on New Earth, after the old Earth passed away, in a city called New Jerusalem. That city is supposed to be 1400x 1400x 1400 miles in size.
If you read that in the Bible, you are going to get it from Revelation 21.
I know that I want to be there. You expressed a lack of desire to live forever, but know that there will not be anyone that is sick, old, diseased, or dying there. We also wont have any sin to contend with. We will be living with God. He will be there with us.
Please read that chapter, and then you'll probably know more than some Christians do.

Because there, you do not suffer. It is a place of reward for all your good deeds, your sacrifices, your efforts, and your faith in God. It is a place where you will never have to worry, get sick, be away from your loved ones, it's beauty is unimagineable, it's bounty is immeasureable, and the best thing about it is you will walk with your Creator. If this is a curse to you, then I am sorry. But this life we're living is a test. Some barely make it,but i don't think that anybody is a complete failure. we have all done some good at some level. I know that this world also has some very evil people, but only God knows how to deal with them. I dont know exactly what you believe in since you said that you're from a "different tradition" but if you're a believer in God, however you may worship Him, all i can say is that God in any religion has promised his people a reward for their deeds. And if you have faith in Him, you will trust and obey him because he is the best of all Guides...

Yes, Not only the christian heaven but total christianity is unique from all other faiths. Heaven is a place where you are going to live with your God who gave His life for you. It is difficult to conceive eternity as we are time bound.
I believe it is not absured like the other eastern religians thought that the heaven (moksha, nirvana or enlightment) is union with god so the personality is lost. If it is true then why do i need moksha? I would die and loose my conciousness instead of attaining nirvana because both the wise i am getting the same result (lost conciousness)

well when i was younger i was afraid to die and i was a believer but didn't know what heaven was like till i got older.
after the rapture god will make a new earth without any sin. you can travel to somewhere in the blink of an i. there are a lot of reasons why i want to go to heaven. it is way better than earth today.
p.s. the person who recommended the book " heaven" it is a great book and i highly recommend it to. this book will make you want to read more more of it.
go to a library and check out a couple books on the christian heaven. i promise you it will be great and if you go to hell you will be in so much pain and god will destroy Satan and all the people in hell. i want to see Jesus and i want to live so i choose heaven.

Heaven is the place God created for us. The bible tells us that we will all be "changed in the twinkling of an eye". We don't know what we will be like, but the bible teaches that "we will be like Him", which seems to indicate that we will be spirits, but with all of the attributes that make us the individuals we are. Others will be able to recognize us. The bible teaches that "No flesh will enter into Heaven". Our bodies, which may be old or damaged or incomplete, will not be the same in Heaven.
Heaven's the place to be. No more tears. No more pain. No more suffering.
Hell's the place to not be. Everlasting torment.
God loves you and so do I.

My opinion is that we will feel so undescribably good; Like way better than we have ever felt in our life. I believe when we were first created it must have been meant for us to feel this floating on clouds way. I know this isn't a popular idea, getting into feelings, but I wouldnt want to live forever with how I feel in the body now. Ask any older person, or disabled person, or sick person. I really look forward to this heavenly high.

I want to go so that I can meet God, Jesus, Elijah, Moses and lots of others. I have a WHOLE LOT of questions to ask God too. Like how long did it take to make the universe. How hard is it to show restraint when people say bad things about You? How does this new body work? I've heard stories about Angels and wow they really DO have wings but they don't look like all of those statues the people collect...
I've also heard that the streets of gold and gates of emeralds etc it'll take billions of years to explore it all... Seems like we'll have a lot to do up there. I'm looking forward to it!
Hope this helps :)

I want to go to heaven so that I can spend eternity with the father, son and holy spirit. I want to feel love on a level that can never be experienced or even comprehended as a human. I want to be emotionally pain free. i want to feel the love, comfort and precious acceptance for all eternity.

living forever seems like a blessing to me. ceasing to exist sounds......bad.
For me, Heaven is just a bonus. I get to live a Good life here, walking in God, help people, rest, recreate etc. and then get to enjoy myself extra afterwards. and again, it's a place, not made of matter, but still a place.
to truly understand the supernatural, one must learn to percieve beyond the physical...

Heaven is to be in the presence of God forever. We read in scripture little slipettes of Heaven and what will be there. The part that appeals to me is Jesus will be ther and doubt you would ever be bored with Him. Just to meet Him, talk with Him, and follow Him forever will be paradise.
