No. I'm not a big Waltrip fan, but I think he has a little bit more integrity than that. And, please, don't try whining that he has no integrity because "he cheated at Daytona." Michael Waltrip is not a particularly good driver, but he does a great job at Daytona and Talladega. He didn't need to cheat. I believe that there were things done without his knowledge.

Besides, there was an 18 year old witness who called 911. She actually spoke with Waltrip before he walked away from the accident. She said nothing about Waltrip "staggering" or smelling of alchohol.

Oh sure, I'm pretty sure he was. From an eyewitness account he crawled out the back window and started walking home with no shoes, just in his socks. Of course, why else would he wait until the following day to report the accident. What I wonder tho, the woman that stopped to help, talked to him, called 911, why didn't they arrive before he walked a mile to his house? I still love Mikey and always will!

Personally I think that he has just about reached the end of his rope. He has had nothing but bad luck since he left DEI. Owning your own team is stressful enough but he cant even qualify his car to race. With that and not being able to bend the rules to his advantage (not cheating, bending the rules ~ anyone would do it if they thought they could get away with it) it takes alot out of a man. Maybe he just needed to clear his head...and figured he would take a nap too? The police report said "alcohol was not a factor", the judge would go by that and so should we.

Don't know if he was or if he wasn't, however, on that strech of road that he wrecked on its very easy to speed, from the railroad tracks to the ball field at 2am I could see speeds from 45 to 90 or better. This is a remote area and again at 2am there aint no "Law" around to keep you in the limit. Michael was more than likely comming home from his shop in Mooresville, hes got so much on his mind, yea speed, 2am, and being stress out because your NASCAR team sux, you do the math......No I don't think he was drunk....but we will never know will we.

There's a very good chance he had drunk some alcohol on Friday night/Saturday morning before his accident. He shuffled away as soon as the eyewitness said she had called the cops. In his defense, though, he has been known to crash all on his own before (during qualifying) and this could merely be another example of his lack of driving ability.

He was either drunk or he is turning into a stunt driver since driving a race car ain't working for him. How else could he roll a vehicle and hit a pole and be barefooted at that.
Maybe TOYOTA will give him a pole award!!!

Or he simply screwed up and tried to run away from the scene, perhaps hoping that things could be "taken care of" in the morning. Whatever, he was absolutely stupid to leave the scene of an accident and Toyota officials must decide if this is the type of "publicity" they want.

Since the woman who talked to him did not say anything about smelling alcohol on his breath it's possible he has a concussion. It's not unusual to fall asleep for hours after a blow to the head and by looking at the pictures of his car it was a hard hit.

I'll reserve my opinion until someone gets him to a doctor for an examination.

Yes I believe officials probably covered for him. The witness said it was a very bad wreck so he was going faster than he does on the track! If he wasn't so much of a cornball,I'd almost feel sorry for him but I believe he just takes up space that someone else could use.
