No one knows when the world will end, except for God the Father. Jesus does not even know when the world will end. In Matthew 24:36-51, Jesus explains that no person knows when the end of the world is. Predictions here on earth are all wrong because we know Christ is coming back be we do not know when. Predictions have been made since Christ left and none of them have come true. Christ said that he comes as unexpected as a theif in the night and he will come as swiftly as lightning strikes.

The Mayans were an ancient civilization and renown for their accurate astrological skills in detecting the exact point of the stars at any given moment, the phase of the moon, and much more. They devised the most accurate calendar known to man even today. This calendar ends on the 24st of December 2012 and so this has begun a series of conspiracy theories that the world will end. The truth is that we don't know if the world will end because when the Spaniards invaded Mayan territory they burnt all Mayan documents so we don't know what happens after that date. It is possible that there is more to the calendar but it was lost in history. There is one theory that the Mayans managed to predict the dates that we were in the centre of our galaxy, because it is possible that our solar system moves around in the galaxy just as the Earth moves the Sun. It is well-known nowadays that at the heart of every galaxy there is a black hole. So some people believe that the black hole will meet us across some co-ordinate in our galaxy and we will be destroyed. Not a pleasant thought.

The fact that there is strife within and among the churches MAY be one of the signs of the end times. Some believe that the Church Age ended years ago, so no believer should be attending a church, since the church would be under Satan's power, including the "pastor" of the church.

The folks at Family Radio believe the Church Age has ended and that the Final Judgment and Second Coming of Christ will be in the fall of 2011.

The folks at Family Radio believe the Final Judgment and Second Coming of Christ will be in the fall of 2011.

For example see the book “Time Has an End” on line at:
http://www.timehasanend.org/public/en_time_has_an_end_cont.html

This group, whose primary teacher is one Harold Camping, also believes the Church Age has ended in 1988 and believers are to come out of the churches as they are now under the control of malevolent forces now that the Tribulation has begun. According to this group, this is why there is so much strife between and within church groups. Mr. Camping’s interpretations of the bible are highly allegorical, so let the reader beware.

See the book Time Has an End, Ch. 10:
http://www.timehasanend.org/public/en_time_has_an_end_ch10.html

That said, the online audio lectures at Family Radio, are illuminating and worth a listen:
See: http://worldwide.familyradio.org/zusa/english/connect/audio_archive/echoes/frame/download/download.html

Finally, for the offline version of the Family Radio nightly call in show, where folks ask questions about the bible to Mr. Camping, see:
http://worldwide.familyradio.org/zusa/english/connect/audio_archive/forum/frame/

I am not endorsing Family Radio’s doctrines, but one is able to learn quite a bit by listening to these materials. Just be careful you don’t swallow everything you hear in this call in show.

Most of what you will read about the end times are pre-millennial views: the view that Christ's return will usher in a future millennium of Messianic rule mentioned in the book of Revelation before the final judgment. The believers of this doctrine also hold to the notion of a Rapture of the righteous beforehand.

Others hold that there will be only one second coming of Christ, at the time of the Final Judgment.

Then there are mixtures involving the views of the seven year tribulation and whether it is happening now, occurs later, etc.

These doctrines all fall under the general heading known as the study of end times, or eschatology.

For explanations of the various eschatological beliefs see: http://www.religioustolerance.org/millenni.htm

I am a Amillennialist. I believe we are currently living in the Millennium and in the Tribulation period. Events described in Matthew 24, Mark 13, and Luke 21 and in most of the book of Revelation have already happened. To me the Antichrist is figurative and not a real person. I believe that the Kingdom of God is today present in the world through the presence of the heavenly reign of Christ, the Bible, the Holy Spirit and Christianity. Both good and evil continues in the world until the current Church Age ends suddenly when Christ returns to the sky above the earth. Then the Rapture immediately occurs. The Redeemed are transported to heaven where they will adopt spiritual bodies. The rest of humanity will be condemned at this time to eternal punishment. The world will be abandoned. History is no more.

December 21, 2012, 11:11 GMT according to the Mayan calendar. It's got something to do with the sun and earth's positions. And I'd rather not stop it. I wanna see what happens.

And by the way December 21 is the Japanese emperor's birthday. I was cracking up for 20 minutes when I first found out. Okay, I know, it's not supposed to be that funny. If I die, too. Sorry.

The idea that the world will end on Dec 21, 2012 comes from the end of the Mayan calendar. It is a Mayan belief, so its up to you if you believe it or not. There is a fairly good show on it on the History Channel if you get a chance to watch it. Here are some website on the calendar.

The end of the world was calculated by the Mayan culture to be the year 2012. I am not sure we could stop it if it is true. Then again, I don't know much about the nature of the end of the world according to that culture.

No one knows the day or the hour, it would not suprise me if it was as soon as 2012 or even sooner, and no there is nothing we can do to stop what God has said.

When it is time for the world to end it will end.

The best thing to do is to stay very close to the Lord through prayer, fasting and obediance. and He will take care of his chosen ones.

we cannot do any thingabout when the end is comming just be ready. No one can say really when the lord will return its all just a guess. So basically it's just best to be spiritually ready.
