The Bible is full of allegorical symbolism.
The historical narratives within it are the "outer garments" of the true spiritual revelation within it. Thus the statement, "The narratives of the doctrine are its cloak. The simple look only on the garment, that is upon the narratives of the doctrine; more they know not. The instructed, however, see not merely the cloak, but what the cloak covers."
And, as another wise man, by the name of Moses Maimonedes, once said, "Every time that you find in our books a tale the reality of which seems impossible, a story which is repugnant to both reason and common sense, then be sure that the tale contains a profound allegory veiling a deeply mysterious truth; and the greater the absurdity of the letter, the deeper the wisdom of the spirit."
If you don't know what I mean, or want to believe this, that is purely your prerogative. Those that have the understanding for these words, will understand.

Well, the Bible sure hasn't been proved wrong by evolution.
If scientists would stick to science, they would get a lot more respect. When they come up with hair-brained ideas like evolution and the Big Bang, they look foolish to all but the gullible.
Over the years, scientist have preached alchemy, astrology, animal magnetism, phrenology, and a whole lot of nonsense. Just in the Twentieth Century, scientists promoted eugenics (until Hitler gave that "science" a bad name), the Ice Age that we were going into, twenty years ago, Global Warming, the "hole" in the ozone layer, and Y2K.
Why do people still fall for this? Wake up! Use your brain.

Because science can't prove it. I have not seen any great evidence or any evidence for that matter that proves evolution.
Time does not make impossible things possible. As an example, a computer was programmed in an attempt to arrive at the simple 26 letter alphabet. After 35,000,000,000,000 (35 trillion) attempts it has only arrived at 14 letters correctly. What are the odd that a simple single cell organism could evolve with the complexity of more than 60,000 proteins of 100 different configurations all in the correct places? Never in eternity. Time does not make impossible things possible.
We are told by evolutionists that a fish wiggled out of the sea onto dry land and became a land creature. So let's examine this idea. OK, a fish wiggles out of the sea and onto the land, but he can't breathe in air. This could happen. Fish do stupid things at times. Whales keep swimming up onto the beaches where they die, but let's get back to the fish story. His gills are made for water. He chokes and gasps before flipping back into the safety of the water. Why would he do such a stupid thing? This wiggling and choking continues for millions of generation until the fish chokes less and less. His gills evolve into lungs so he can breathe on dry land. One day he simply stays out on the land and never goes back into the water. Now he is lizard. If you believe this, you need psychiatric help.
The smallest single cell creature has millions of atoms forming millions of molecules that must each be arranged in an exact pattern to provide the required functions. The cell has an energy producing system, protective housing and security system to let molecules into and out of the housing, a reproductive system and a central control system. This complexity required an intelligent design. It is much too complex to happen by chance.

First of all, evolution does not disprove the bible. There are many different views of origins among Christians. Young Earth, and Old Earth. Some who believe in evolution and some who don't. And these are people who believe the bible.
Some people just use evolution as an excuse to ignore God. And in case you haven't noticed, for many atheists, there is a lot of emotion and animosity towards a God they claim does not exist. That is totally illogical. The fact that atheists post here in R&S is completely illogical. They have to know by now that they are not changing anyone who has faith.
Honestly, is evolution the thing keeping you from God?
Or is it just the best excuse currently available?

I'll agree that evolution is real in the fact that living creatures adapt to their environment and sometimes their offspring are born with better ways of coping with their surroundings. But that's a far cry from bacteria evolving into mammals.
And the fossil record doesn't help. There are no human remains found in the same layers as dinosaurs, so humans and dinosaurs weren't on the earth at the same time. On the other hand, the youngest coelacanth fossils are 65 million years old, but the coelacanth is still alive!

Oh ye of little faith!
The bible story of Genesis is a symbol story. The people who wrote it used it to explain something they did not understand! Evolution does not prove nor disprove anything in the bible! God created the world in seven days, well guess what! We weren't around to say what comprised a day! Evolution actually fits well into the Faith stories that christians and jews believe in.

Because the Bible doesn't answer every question about every matter in our world, nor is it complete or was it meant to be. It even admits to hiding many things from "wise men," probably for our own good. Do we know by what process God spoke the Universe into existence? No. As soon as we find out that grand unifying force of all things we can begin to contemplate these things, including evolution and why our strands of DNA are in a double-helix and all that good stuff.

Science doesn't "prove". They study and come up with hypothesis and theories that best EXPLAIN the phenomenon. Proof only works in mathematics and for alcohol.
What science has shown though, is that alot of the stories in the bible are pure B.S. Take the Noachian flood story for instance. Geologists have studied the geologic column and have concluded that no world wide catastrophic flood ever took place. Science also has concluded that man can not live too be 900 years old.

Evolution is a THEORY. That means that based on some specific interpretation of evidence, they think this is what happens. If you want to fight science with science, check out www.thecreationnetwork.org or core research just to name two of the many organizations of scientists that believe in intelligent design.
Using the scientific view of evolution in an attempt to disprove the existance of God is getting really old and very tiring as neither of us are going to be the slightest bit affected by the others viewpoint. It is only your and other non believers viewpoint that what science says is real. There are just as many of us who believe that science is incorrect in their interpretation.

What is proof really?
If a scientist said pluto was grape flavored ice and was backed by several books and scientific studies would you believe it?
Every scientific proof is someones theory, The Big Bang was a theory.
Plus have they found the missing link yet!
Of course if Aliens came down and Raped a bunch of monkeys for pure pleasure and the out come was man, well wouldn't that be something!
Except of course your scientist don't believe in Aliens or UFO's so they can't be real either.
