You cannot target an area to burn fat. You can only target an area to tone and build muscle.

Everyone's body stores and utilizes fat in and from different places. Some people store it in the gut, others in the butt. And it goes the same way in reverse. Some people's bodies will use some fat deposits faster than others.

That is called "spot reduction" and it is a MYTH.

The body loses fat in a way that is usually from the extremities first toward the midsection and upper thigh areas, last. So as you progress through your diet, you will notice your calves, forearms, neck and shoulders getting leaner and not so much a change in the midsection or the thigh area. As you keep going however, these areas will then lose the fat last.

Keep in mind a proper diet to lose fat in those areas take anywhere from 10-16 weeks. If you are above 20% body fat, it may take 18 weeks. Read the following for the best understanding on diet and exercise in the shortest and most efficient use of time:

Nothing hits your upper thighs like plain old "squats".
Just pick up a set of barbells, put them on your shoulders, stand with feet, shoulder length apart, and sit down, keeping your back straight.
Stand with your back to the front of a chair, and pretend to sit down, stopping as soon as your back side contacts the chair.
This is one rep.
Start slowly, with light weights, and work your way up,either by upping the weight, or adding more reps.
If you want mass(big muscles),up the weight, and keep your reps low (6-8)
You will feel this!
3 or four times a week, and you will see results in about 5-to 6 weeks.
Good luck
