Gum surgery is for bacteria and gigavitas and bad stuff like that and they usally but you to sleep or give you a little "numbing shot" or novacaine and that can hurt a little bit but not to bad if they do not do that it might hurt. Flap surgery: Usually done under anteshia and does hurt a little after the procedure and it is to lift the gums. The pictures of it are worse than it really is. I hope this helps!

It does not hurt they numb the gums and it does not hurt while they are doing the procedure however you will need some pain pills to get you through the pain after the surgery sometimes. if you feel a pain starting to come on take the pain medicine then rather than wait until it hurts bad. that way you don't have to wait for the medicine to start to work and you avoid the pain then. Its not going to hurt you that much if you follow your doctors advice. i had mine done and just used Tylenol for pain and got by very well.

a gingivectomy is actually removing tissue. a flap surgery is making a flap in your gums, not removing it. During the procedure you should be numb so don't have to worry about that. After you may be sore, but nothing some typical pain meds cant deal with.

i had it done and yes you will have some pain, however, during the actual surgery you will be fine because you will be numbed up...also if you are having anxiety over this the dentist can prescribe a relaxation drug that you take 1/2 hr prior to surgery...i had to take this because i have a fear of having anything done to my teeth/gums....afterwards make sure you have plenty of soft things to eat such as yogurt, pudding, soup, tea...etc...the first couple of days will be rough, but you will have a coating that stays over your teeth for about 5-7 days for protection also your gums/teeth will be very sensitive so get some toothpaste for sensitive teeth believe me you will need this...also the dentist will prescribe you a pain medication for after the surgery make sure you get it filled you will need it for 1-2 days afterwards..good luck you will do fine and you will be much healthier after its all done you can email me if you need any more info...feel free

I had the surgery two years ago. However, my dentist used a laser to do the surgery. He didn't use a scapel. I had no pain or really any discomfort after the laser. I just had to be careful when brushing. You may want to ask your dentist if he/she has a laser available for the surgery.

Why don't you ask the doctor/dentist you'll be seeing. I'm sure he/she will be more than happy to explain the procedure.

I can't believe you are asking in this forum....you need to be talking to the oral surgeon that is doing the work, it is his job to explain the procedure to you and ensure your comfort.
