...still religiously unsure, or is it just me?

I feel that I have to give it a little more thinking, before I decide what I choose to believe

(or before something "strikes" me with absolute belief or absolute unbelief, if this sort of things ever happens).

Whatever it is, it should have to be, however, coherent with science and logic.

Or, maybe I'll take it easy and settle as an atheist.

What about you?

Iblis - but of course it is not about fear of burning into Hell. It is simply that, precisely by trying to be logical, I see that we don't have clear evidence either for, nor against there being something more than *this*. We just don't know. Yet. Yes, the fact that *this* might well be "the proverbial It" seems to be the most probable thing, but this is all we have right now, a vague degree of probability...

I believe deep down inside a lot of people want hope that there is more to death than just the blackness of nothing. I dont know if there is a god or not but one thing for sure and that is we will not know until we have taken our final breath.

If you are going to believe something what are you going to base that belief on?

Speculation that there might be a God and that this God might be a certain way but then again might be completely different and a total A S S H O L E.

OR

Facts and what can be proven to be real. On a system of thought that is based on observation and constant checking of itself to see if any new discoveries can open up new ways of thought and possible a better look at the big picture.

Personally I follow the evidence not some man made fantassy being that has never done anything for anyone! Not to mention that has been used to torture and or kill tens of millions of people!

Don't let scare tactics of unless you believe as we say you are going to Hell intimadate you. There is NO EVIDENCE that any religion is right so to follow one is like playing the lottery. Why do it odds are you'll pick the wrong ticket.

you don't need need to dump spirituality if you dump religion and the supernatural. don't study any holy text go straight to the source. look at the stars, marvel at trees, stand above the jaw dropping wonder of the grand canyon, listen to birds, smell the new magnolias, see the grandeur of clouds sail through the blue sky, feel the emotional sea stir as you read a great poem, a piece of music or work of art. isn't it great, wonderful this universe. no matter how bad it seems at times the whole human race is slowly ascending upwards to better things, stumbling blindly of course but moving on up. both science and art are slowly infusing us all with knowledge and wisdom. we care more about other people, the environment and the creatures on this world than we ever have at any time in human history. and the universe has done this all by serendipity, we don't need to be the plaything of some deity, the property of a god, we are free and an integral part of this awesome self creating universe. from the simplest principle blossomed all this breath taking complexity, a procees like a flower growing from a seed, but with petals of stars and galaxies. we are part of all this, our purpose is no more than just to be. if we wish to make a purpose and meaning , then i can't think of a better one than being just a kind, thoughtful and helpful human. no after life i'm afraid, but who cares one life is enough especially if you suck it all in and don't live in fear. i think that a love of all there is and atheism are liberation of the human soul from the bondage of the gods, look at it all it's just so bloody lovely. ( sorry it's so purple, i get carried away sometimes).

I'm afraid if you are looking for a faith that is based on science and technology, Christianity is not for you. It is necessary that you allow yourself to look to God from your heart rather than only your mind for it is to your heart he speaks.

It sounds to me as if you have already made your decision. I don't think their is any "religion" or denomination of Christianity that is truly coherent with science or logic. We Christians are the first to admit that scientifically, God doesn't make sense. However, when we let our heart do the thinking for us, in He comes. Then you know for sure and you will never be the same. I hope the best for you but it is as you said...a choice.

Science and spirituality are on the verge of a massive merger that will transform how mankind views God. We will learn that:

God is infinite, eternal, fully aware of His own Divinity and composed entirely of the energy we call Love.

In order to experience Himself fully, God subdivided into an infinite number of individuations, granting each the gifts of consciousness, identity and free-will.

The zero point field is a measure of the background energy of God from which all matter is formed.

Variations in the vibrational rate of this background field create gravitational disturbances which collapsed into vortexes of energy and form the fundamental building blocks of matter - photons.

Everything is connected to everything else, all being a direct manifestation of God.

Creation is built around polarity, light/dark, good/evil, etc. This polarity is necessary to provide free-will entities with the opportnunity to make choices in their lives.

The true nature of the Creator us infinite, eternal and unconditional Love. Making choices and living a life that radiate the Love of the Creator bring you in accord with the true nature of God and draw you closer to Him. Making choices of fear and hate leave you in discordance with the true nature of God and remove you further from him.

Ultimately it is the destiny of all free-will entities to find their way back to the Loving arms of God. Nobody gets lost on the path back to the Creator, nobody gets left behind.

Our spiritual progress is determined by our choices. You can make new choices at any time.

Every time I am unsure, I just return to R&S to reinforce my beliefs. After an hour of seeing various religions and subsets of religions battle each other over which god could kick which god's butt. After an hour of seeing questions in the form of "gee my god is wonderful isn't he?" After an hour of seeing some of the truly bizarre beliefs that people have. After an hour of seeing trolls of various religions spew hatred. I remember why I became an Atheist.

What ever makes you happy! I can not live my life regretting every single little thing I do. If we were sent here to suffer then why would they/he/she/it give us so many beautiful things to enjoy.

There must be a middle point, where we enjoy ourselves without being abusive. If we respect one another we should be just fine.

At least that is what I believe. Good luck.

my whole family are buddists, and i guess growing up i questioned whether or not God himself, existed. but, whenever i was scared, or in a mood, i would pray, and automatically a feeling of calmness would run throughout my body, and i knew that everything will always be okay.. im not super religous or anything, but i do believe there is one god, no matter what religous background you come from.

i think if we all had religon in our lives, the world would be a better place :]

There is no shortcuts to a spiritual maturity. Give it time. I study the Bible, and when I asked Holy Spirit in my heart, God started to communicate with me.

Seek, and you will find. You have a free will, use it wisely. : )

If I may, I would ask that while you are thinking, that you direct it all to GOD in prayer and allow HIS SPIRIT to guide you and not a man.

HIS WORD says, he who lacks wisdom let him ask of GOD, WHO gives to all people without partiality (no not word for word)
