Well for sexual offenders there must be a good complete law. The solution is not how to rahabilitate the person, or how to punish the person so that he gets the pain. The solution for that has to be something of greater importance. The best solution has to do with a punishment that should be a lesson for others too that would include taking the most dearest thing of that person, that is life, and the horrible torture to him. That will leave the lesson for the society to really rid of such evils from society. Do you know that in USA prisons there are 35 thousand dollars spend yearly on each inmate?
The problem is that we are going the wrong directions in terms of human life value and love of human value. Our sympathies are towards the criminals and not the victims when it comes to the punishment laws.
So, we live in a consistent state of fear of robbery, rap, and muderers. We cannot get rid of these evils from society as long as our sympathy remains with criminals and not the victims and the whole society in general.
And yeah.. torture by the selected Jury !! or death by stoning by jury. Remember!! You will see only few incidents after that and then the society will not have these things no more because of the horrible torture and death as the result.

Who exactly would be the one doing this torture. I think that the moral fortitude of most people would not allow them to do this. This is especially true if the person being tortured has no way to stop it. In the international history of the military torture has been used to extract information, but what you are proposing would never end. There would just be a torturer who wakes up, tortures people goes and eats lunch, tortures some more and then goes home for the day... Who could do something like that?
I agree with the person that said they should have to clean up wal-mart's bathrooms.

Torture would definitely be worse. Capital punishment is quick, and easy (no suffering). Yet, how is it okay to give repeat offenders an easy way out after they took something (that can never be replaced) away from their victims. I don't believe we should stoop to the same level as the criminal but capital punishment is just too easy.

This is where we have gone as a culture. Its not enough that the land of the free incarcerates more folks than any other nation in the world, now we contemplate the acceptablity of torture.
Crime rates are dropping.
But thats not enough. We've got to hurt someone damnit !
The culture of victimhood comes full circle and now the victims become the perpetrators in this vision of justified violence and mutilation. What sick twisted impulse was unleashed at Abu Garib anyway ? What demon makes us think that allowing the state to visit extreme pain on individuals makes us more civilized, more justified in our victimhood ?

For various repetition of crimes by one person may impact very bad effect on judicial processes. On the otherhand, person is commited for doing crimes again and again .Accordingly, he is unuseful for the society. Such person is harming to the various people who may be useful for the society. In such case, capital punishment is necessary for two reasons. First one,the persons can be saved to whom he/she could have harmed if he/she alive and to save society people, capital punishment is necessary. Secondly, the people will fear to do such crimes. My opinion is for capital punishment. For one to three Tortures can be alright due to fact that person can leave such crimes habits and can be changed his/her life to become good person of the society. Therefore, one to three tortures are necessary to provide a chance of such person. bur for continuing processes of crimes by one person, capital punishment can be justified.

Finite human crimes, yes. But according to some theologians, sins against a holy, infinite God are thereby infinitely serious and punishable in accordance with the infinite holiness of a righteous God who commands total obedience.

Capital punishment would be too easy for some people. If someone hurt my kids, they'd better turn themselves in. There's nothing in prison worse than what I would do to them over the course of several weeks to months, depending on their will to live and how long it took to break it.

Torture sounds personally arousing to me, so that's a tough one to answer.
How about make them clean up the Wal-Mart parking lots and restrooms, that's pretty degrading.
