I had a bunch of pistachios recently, that's the only thing that I can think of that may have caused this irritation.

Most likely its an irritation ucler which is caused by consistent rubbing on the inside of the cheek (buccal area) usually by a tooth that is rough (maybe a piece of filling fell out or the edge of the tooth is rough). This will cause a small sore. It can also be due to eating large quantities of salt which is an irritant. Do not gargle with salt water, rather rinse with a mixture of one part Maalox and one part hydrogen peroxide. And until its gone, apply a litle OraGel. It's numbing effect will alleviate the pain until it heals.

you could have bitten the inside of your cheek in your sleep, that will create a sore spot
