OK, if it is front wheel drive, most likely is from Axel.
Specially when U R turning the wheel.
Needs new Axle boot or new a new Axle.
It also could B UR brakes, usually it should noisy both sides.
And when U apply the brakes.
The last possibility would B the Shock or Strut. which ever is
installed.
Almost 4got, when U do Oil Change & Lube, some times
they 4get 2do Lub. That is Lubricating the chasis.
To do that they spray joints with lubricants. Some cars have
nozzels uder the suspention for refiing the Grease.
1st make sure that is done.
Regards.

WD40 is not the answer. The answer is to tighten the belt. The alternator is affixed to a bracket that has a "oval" hole(its the words that come to me to describe a hole that is used for moving the alternator inward or outward or adjusting) You need to loosen the bolt that shows on the one side of the hole and then you can move the alternator outward with a pry-bar or large screwdriver so that it is pulling harder against the belt. Possibly the same story for the power steering pump. And possibly the same story for the A.C. unit.. I say "possibly" because if all 3 things were using 1 belt to drive them; then you only need one adjuster. Belts can be compared to new shoes. They fit tight when new, but after you have walked in them a couple of years they fit like slip-ons, or just downright sloppy as the material has stretched. Really, a minor adjustment. But then again, some people will drive them for years squealing away. At this point the belt is glazed over with the years of slipping and it is better just to replace the belt with a new one. That is all I can tell you is wrong with that part. Even car sales people have their own mechanics so he would know that is all that is. His low price is for another reason. Closely inspect the bodywork. If you do not feel adept at analyzing the mechanics of it, try to bring an all-around mechanic you trust with you to give you his impression (he can't make a guarantee) it is only what he sees and hears outright to advise you. May cost you a few bucks for his time. Go from there.

squealing not grinding?
Could be a belt. Or it could be tie rods--does it feel sort of lopsided when it rolls? Can you move the tire all by it self?
Ah maybe the caliper (sp?) is frozen shut...my husband is a mechanic and is not home..he would know..I can only guess.
If you put a jack under it and the tire moves all sorts of ways...do not drive it. That would be the tie rod and if it breaks while you are driving the tire may come off while in motion.
Caliper stuck...I don't know..it sits on the brake drum or disc and if it is stuck shut I think you need a new one.
But like I said I don't know. Go look and see if it is either of these things.
I don't know if they still have it but one of the do it yourself auto part stores used to have a website showing you how to fix things...either autozone or advance auto

From your description it sounds like the brakes maybe a little surface rust on the brake discs possibly if its only used for short distances.....or it could be a similar problem with the pads.....a squeaky trip to the garage or motor centre is needed......unless its someone you trust get 2 or 3 different opinions as in my experience you can get charged for things that dont really need doing.

Have the brake pads and rotors checked. It's about time for new ones if in-fact she's been the only driver of that car.
