Simple, know what religious group he belong. Example,” Born Again Christian”. Pastor from that religion is a liar. They say that they teach the doctrines of Christ but look they love to pray publicly . Jesus teach Christian where to pray, Mat 6:6 But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.
1Jo 2:4 He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.
Joh 8:44 Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.
Joh 7:17 If any man will do his will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself.

ANYONE who engages in divine teaching takes on a very heavy responsibility. James 3:1 warns: “Not many of you should become teachers, my brothers, knowing that we shall receive heavier judgment.” Yes, teachers of God’s Word are under more serious responsibility to render an acceptable account than are Christians in general. What will this mean for those who prove to be false teachers?

Like the false prophets of Jerusalem, Christendom’s clergy also walk in falsehood, spreading apostate doctrines, teachings not found in God’s Word. What are some of these false teachings? The immortality of the soul, the Trinity, purgatory, and a hellfire to torment people eternally. They also tickle the ears of their hearers by preaching what people like to hear. They chant that no calamity faces Christendom because she has God’s peace. But the clergy are speaking “the vision of their own heart.” It is false. Those who believe such lies are being poisoned spiritually. They are being misled to their destruction

Is this appraisal of the clergy class too strong? We can determine this by applying the rule that Jesus gave to identify false prophets: “By their fruits you will recognize them.” (Matthew 7:15, 16)

She ought to instruct what different religions say, no longer merely Christianity, what contemporary technology says, and enable the student make up his or her very own suggestions. Ask her what's her view on GPS and no count if it rather is nice that ships, plane etc. ought to apply a sort of navigation that wasn't around in Biblical cases and for this reason isn't stated in the Bible. Ask her if she makes use of a working laptop or pc and what the Bible has to declare approximately those - no longer plenty I ought to think of because of the fact that they hadn't been invented while it become written. Ask her if she has a vehicle and how she feels approximately making use of, even however the only thank you to get around in Biblical cases become by ability of horse, donkey or taking walks. Then ask her why, if she is gentle with multiple those contemporary innovations that have switched over the international so extensively and rather because of the fact the Bible become written, why she will't settle for that contemporary technology has moved on and that comparable technology which gave humankind each and all of the above and much greater additionally places the age of the Earth at around 4.5 billion years?

If it contradicts scripture. But if they are the ONLY ones teaching you, they can easily put their own spin on interpretation of verses and make it look like they are supported by scripture.
I would get a good book on doctrine.
Try getting the following two books-
Major Bible Themes, by Chafer and Walvoord
A good commentary on Romans would be excellent also, since Romans is all about doctrines. Perhaps The Romans commentary by Donald Barnhouse would be a good choice. Boice wrote one also, and that would be more in depth for more serious work.

The way to know if a teacher is lying is by the gift of discernment of spirits which is given by the Holy Spirit. Discernment protects us from false doctrine by allowing us to see the spirit that a false teacher is operating under.

Any spirit that does not preach that we must earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered is a lying spirit.

I really don't know...but I do have this bit of good advice from an unlikely source:

Julie Pierce: What's going on?
Kesuke Miyagi: Nothing. Just monks having good time.
Julie Pierce: I thought they were supposed to be spiritual
Kesuke Miyagi: Never trust spiritual leader who doesn't dance.

Anything that is told by a teacher of the Gospel MUST align itself with the recorded Word of God.
If it doesn't then it is false.

You would have to study their beliefs.

Now, if you want to know how a Child of GOD can tell if another Child of GOD is "not right" when they say things, you will need a Bible and the Holy Spirit living inside of you.

You need to compare what they are teaching to the teachings of the bible.

Isa 8:20 To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.
