Hope these help, I know what you mean about wanting to use the internet, its fine because you can work through the websites with your child and help them to learn. The internet is more of an aid for learning rather than a teacher, just ignore people the who critise you for your question.

I have to second the vote for the Leap Frog Letter Factory DVD. My son learned all the letters and sounds before his second birthday. Then we moved on to the Talking Words Factory and then Code Word Caper, now he's into the Storybook Factory. He's not quite three yet and is reading some and loves to spell words will his magnet letters. They also have a DVD that introduces math concepts called Math Circus. They use music and humor that little ones love and soak right up.

I think books are a much better medium for small children to learn their ABCs. Save the Internet for when they actually have fingers long enough to type with! Also, Sesame Street is still the most awesome educational children's show out there.

Do yourself a favor and get the Leap Frog Letter Factory. My child learned all the letters and the sounds within 2 weeks of watching that video.

What is wrong with teaching them the old fashioned way? I taught all 4 of my kids their alphabet by using the magnet letters that you put on the fridge. My kids all new the alphabet and could recognize each letter at the age of 2. I would put all the letters in a basket, once they learned them, I would have them run as fast as they could and stick the letters on the fridge. They loved it!

You won't find any better site than starfall.com. It will work your child up from just learning the ABC to recognizing the letters, sounds, and eventually on their way to reading. Check it out.

I think it is great that you are introducing your child to positive use of technology. It is not going anywhere and the job that he or she will have in the future will probably require that they have some degree of knowledge in technology. It seems to me that you are trying to do two good things for your child, teach him his alphabets and introduce him to the use of computers. I am sure you are doing other good things for your child as well. Keep the good work up!

You don't have to go online to teach your precious child the alphabet. Just go to www.amazon.com and go to the music section. Type "Sesame Street" and voila, it will yield CD's that can help your child with their ABC's and 123's!
