My husband has tax lien judgement 5 yrs ago and he hasn't paid it off yet. We've filed income tax return for the past 3 yrs and the IRS never sieze the tax refund money. How can I find out if the lien still exist? and how can I settle it with the IRS?

If this is his debt, the IRS will not discuss this with you , He needs to call 1-800-829-0922 Mon-Fri from 7am to 10pm to find out if there is any balance showing on his account, If there is nothing showing the Customer Service Rep can give him the number for the Levy/Lien Division of the IRS, to ensure that the Lien is lifted. The Lien will still show as a past credit history, but satisfied on his credit report,just like any other derogatory history

Check with your local tax assessor - the IRS may have placed a lien on your property if you own your home. This could explain why the IRS isn't taking your refunds. They are guaranteed to be paid once you sell your home or refinance the mortgage. Also, this lien will appear on your credit report and can be extremely damaging.

Make sure you have the money to pay of the lien amount in full. The IRS can seize liquid assets without notice.

You could call the IRS and ask them if any lien exists.

check husbands credit report if IRS placed Lien it will be on his credit report. You can get a free copy yearly.
