Than use a Bible translation that took God's name out, wouldn't you? We all know that this is a fact. Why do you continue to support a translation that took our Heavenly Fathers name out? I respect the commitee that translated the New World Translation and thank them for restoring Jehovah's name.

The personal name of the only true God. His own self-designation. Jehovah is the Creator and, rightfully, the Sovereign Ruler of the universe. “Jehovah” is translated from the Hebrew Tetragrammaton, הוהי, which means “He Causes to Become.” These four Hebrew letters are represented in many languages by the letters JHVH or YHWH.
The Jerusalem Bible: The Tetragrammaton is translated Yahweh, starting with its first occurrence, at Genesis 2:4.
So if it is Yahweh or Jehovah why take it out and replace it with a title such as Lord?

After giving Spiritro a "thumb up" by sheer accident, I had to come on and apologize to all others as her interpretation is the one that doesn't mirror the original Greek Scripture, which I also have in my possession. It shows that the more recent and worldly versions had the letter "a" before God, when it said that Jesus was a God... At least, it didn't say god, like it does everywhere about the small "g" gods such as the one at 2 Corinthians 4:4 But I was so happy to read about people demanding to have His holy name restored in the newer translations that I mistook that answer to another I had just read and I have to at least attempt to correct my mistake!!! For Jehovah's sake I had to say it!!! A public declaration of my error! That's it!!!
I love Witnesses. The only thing I don't like is when I have to read an answer three to five times and still can be sure if this one is for or against... it's hard to mark right or wrong sometimes... especially when there are sites to visit in order to be able to figure out which side the person is really on... Does everyone expect everyone to visit every site posted here? We already have a hard drive full of so many... Unless the person answering makes clear about what he or she is saying, I don't see the point in going further or in giving a thumb either way!!! Plus I just thought of something! Would this be considered "voting"? as in politics? Just thinking out loud! That's all!

You are so right, I have a king james version bible that has God's name in there in Psalms 83;18; Exodus 6:3
and Isaiah 12;2 and 26:4 so we do know the name of God.
The back of the bible explains that it was taken out because the Jews were suspicious about the name.
Because they were suspicious should we be?

1. JEHOVAH IS NOT representative of the name! It is the result of people misunderstanding the Hebrew text.
2. The INSPIRED apostles NEVER instructed the non-Hebrew or Aramaic speaking converts to Christianity in any way about using a "name," but ONLY used the Greek 'theos' or God to designate him. There were HUNDREDS of Christians in the first century who were GIFTED by the Spirit of God to TEACH and WRITE INSTRUCTIONS for the newly formed church. NONE of them EVER gave any such instructions, and THEY WERE GOD'S MESSENGERS FOR THAT PURPOSE.
3. The "translators" FALSELY inserted "Jehovah" MANY times in the New Testament. They assert that ancient Hebrew translations of the New Testament using the tetragrammaton justify the use, BUT THEY REFUSED TO USE IT CONSISTENTLY where THE SAME HEBREW TRANSLATIONS use it 109 TIMES TO REFER TO JESUS!
4. The INSPIRED New Testament writers consistently rendered quotations including the tetragrammaton in Koine Greek as kurios or theos, 'Lord' or 'God.' NO ATTEMPT was made to transport the name across linguistic lines.
5. The ancients commonly TRANSLATED names rather than TRANSLITERATED them.
Names HAD MEANING, a concept mostly lost in the English-speaking world, so a name would be TRANSLATED rather than becoming a MEANINGLESS SOUND in another language.
Remember Peter as Cephas? That was a TRANSLATED NAME... IF the proponents of using the name suggested maintaining the MEANING of the name rather than the sound, they would have a much better point.

The New World translation is false.
John 1:1 "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God."
John 1:1 (NWT), "In (the) beginning the Word was, and the Word was with God, and the Word was a god."
This change was made because Jehovah's Witnesses do not believe that Jesus is God. Rather, Jehovah's witnesses believe Jesus is a created being, the highest of the angels.
Hebrews 1:8 (NIV), "But about the Son he says, "Your throne, O God, will last for ever and ever…" Hebrews 1:8 (NWT), "God is your throne forever…" Again, a clear reference to Jesus as God is twisted.
Genesis 1:2 (KJV), "And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters." Genesis 1:2 (NWT), "Now the earth proved to be formless and waste and there was darkness upon the surface of [the] watery deep; and God's active force was moving to and fro over the surface of the waters."
The New World Translation is not a translation of the Bible.

Not because it was mentioned in the Bible for more than seven thousand times will already be the basis of your belief. JWHW does not have the right correspondence. God's name has NEVER been Jehovah. That is a mistranslation of the word YWHW. The Hebrew language does not have a J, neither does Greek God has many names, but Jehovah is not one of them

God's name can't be pronounced. The best interpretation we have of His name is Yahweh.
