(1Jn 2:27) But the anointing which you received from Him abides in you, and you do not need anyone to teach you. But as His anointing teaches you concerning all things, and is true and no lie, and as He has taught you, abide in Him.

Your answer is both.

A good spiritual leader will have a good grasp of what he is teaching. They should be teaching from Scripture and how Christ is revealed in Scripture.

There should not be a split from the two, and if there is, you really need to be looking for a new teacher. In fact, it is our duty TO be watchful for teachings that are not Scriptural. After all, they too are human and can err.

Jesus.Remember that the oninting that's on the teacher is not his owns. When someone teaches you, it's not the teacher that's doing the teaching but rather the Holy Spirit (God) that's teaching you, which is the anointing given by God. Teachers are only instruments in God's hands, but the actual teacher is God Himself.
