Life without God is Hell. At the moment He is with all of us. He want us to know Him and to accept Him, but He will not force Himself upon us. So it is through freewill we choose Him. If we don't choose to accept Him after we die and we have made a conscious decision to ignore Him, then we will go to a place where He is not. That is hell.
God doesn't need to condemn people, they condemn themselves.

God doesn't condemn people to Hell.
Hell is the total absence of God, originally created for Satan and the angels who went against God. However, sadly, there are many people in our world who have rejected God completely.
What else is he to do?
God doesn't send us to Hell. Honestly, we bring it on ourselves. God loves us more than anything, and He wants nothing more than for us to live in Paradise with Him. When we sin, we hurt our relationship with God. When we commit mortal sin, we seriously hurt our relationship with Him. This is why we need Reconciliation.
Of course, no one can enter Heaven with sin on their soul, but we know we have a loving and merciful God who won't "condemn us to Hell" if we steal a candy bar from the store. This is why we need purgatory--it is a state of cleansing so we can enter Heaven, full of Grace. We are refined so we can purge away our impurities to enter Complete Happiness.
Those who are sent to Hell are those who have REALLY screwed up. These are the people who completely reject God, and are committing blasphemy against the Holy Spirit- the ONLY unforgivable sin.
Trust in God's loving grace and mercy.

We are warned from the age of decision regarding the consequence of unforgiven sin. Do not blame God for suffering that is a result of denial of God. People who love God do not fear death so they do not suffer in the same way as non believer.

He gave you an entire lifetime to pray to him and ask for forgiveness, believe in him, avoid hell, and live in paradise but you chose not to. Do you expect him to shower you with gifts? God doesn't insist that you suffer, he has given you the power of free will and you make your own decisions therefore. So it is you who make yourself suffer.

God is Mercy and also perfectly just, without either of these attributes of Mercy and Justice He could not be God,sin and denial of God demands His Justice just as much as the repentance of a sinner demands His mercy, you and I must choose which one we want,by living our God given life as He commands us ,to live in complete disregard of God is to invoke His Justice, thats how it is and it is no use having an attitude of poor me, God is so unfair, the world is full of this mentality and it is really very immature indeed.

The theological response would be that God doesn't condemn them - they condemn themselves. In the actions of their lives, in the free choices that they knowingly make, they choose -
and in choosing evil, they get the consequences. There are theologians who suggest that the people who are in hell remain there by choice - they are unwilling to give up their pride, their greed, whatever brought them there in the f irst place, and so they remain.

God gives everyone a choice. He created us with free will, and we ultimately choose out eternity. God would be a cosmic rapist if he forced someone who does not care to choose him in life to spend eternity with him in death. Ultimately, the choice of heaven or hell lies in our own hands.

Hell is a myth. God, if that being exists at all does not bestow accomodations in heaven for the 'chosen few' while everyone else gets infinite punishment for a finite crime.
