A friend of the world becomes an enemy of God according to the Word of the Lord written in James 4:7, and bad company corrupts a Christian also (1 Corinthians 15:33). So the only reason to be a friend of an atheist would be to win them over (1 Corinthians 9:19-27), but be careful not to be unequally yoked (2 Corinthians 6:14-7:1).

Yes one friend and he and I have agreed to just talk computers, card games, weather, anything but religion. My ex-daughter-in-Law who asked me not to mention God in front of my Grandson, I agreed but refused to take down my religious art work. My brother has taken up being an atheist
( Our father was a preacher) He told me so when our Father had a massive stroke almost two years ago. I warned the brother not to tell Dad this because it could bring on another stroke that would kill Dad. I asked my brother how long he has been feeling this way and I guess for several years now. He has told me that he is to smart to believe in God. Well needless to say we don't talk religion either.

I have some athiest acquaintances, but none of them are close friends, as we don't seem to have enough in common for that. I do have two agnostics who are very close to me, as well as a Unitarian and a Baha'i. I can have good interesting discussions on religious topics with these people, with mutual respect all around. Maybe there are athiests who aren't so abrasive and hard to talk to, and I just haven't been lucky enough to meet them.

Yes, I do have several atheists friends. I also have some very fundamental Christian friends, a friend who practices Zen Buddhism, several involved with Wicca, and my best friend is Jewish. I love them all dearly and treasure our friendships...they are good people.

I have agnostic friends, I don't believe that anyone can truly be atheist. To be you have to agree that there is a god in order to say that you don't believe in him.
I think that it is said to be agnostic because then you are admitting that there is a God you just don't care. And I think that is way worse then just be ignorant enough to say that you are atheist

Sure, but none of them are rude and insulting like the bashers we see on this site. Not all atheists on this site are bashers, but the majority are. I think that's because they can remain annonymous here, but in real life they wouldn't act like this. I would never tell my friends they're going to hell because they don't believe as I do, (I don't believe in doing that anyway, I'm not God), and they never insult my beliefs.

Yes. I have more friends who are NOT Christian (not just atheist, but agnostic, Wiccan, Muslim, Buddhist, and Hindu)than friends who are.
