OK dude, here's the deal. Your SS teacher either knows little about the topic she is teaching you, or she is only telling you what she believes. Either way you are not being taught the facts. The president is the highest position in the executive branch of the federal government. The responsibilities of the office include declaring war and enforcing the laws of the U.S. The federal government's responsibility is to protect the country from foreign enemies.
fact: 9-11-2001, we were attacked by people who wish us all dead.
fact: The president is responsible for making decisions concerning how best to protect our country.
Regardless of whether or not you agree with our course of action, you can rest assured the president went to war to protect your teachers' right to badmouth him. If we don't eliminate the problem over there, it WILL come over here. Does she really want that?

Yes, a president should do better than us laymen. He was hired to keep our country and people safe and free and to spend out tax dollars wisely.
War was not strictly his choice it was a choice made by him and all his cabinet and the Senate. Together they decided to go to war and together they will decide when the war is over.
Bush has a lot of influence in Washington and he can bring out troops home is he so chooses. But he will not give up. He does not want America to back down in defeat. But instead he should look at it like America is doing the right to stop occupying a country where they are not needed or wanted.
Lets hope the best decision is made in this year.

I think your Social Studies teacher needs to concentrate on her job of teaching young students rather than try to brainwash them politically.
You tell your Social Studies teacher that I am in the Army and have been for 15 years. I am in Iraq right now, and I am here voluntarily.
I understand what this fight is about. It is about doing something about radical Islam before the problem gets worse. It is about keeping tens - if not hundreds - of thousands of Americans from dying in American streets.
The men and women of the American military understand that not everyone is cut out for - or even agrees with - the job we are doing. However, if we do not step up and fight terror, our children will have to in the next generation. Or our grandchildren will have to fight after that. We are all fighting to give our children and grandchildren a better life than we had. The best way we can do that is to do what we can to ensure they will not have to march off to war.
Most military members WANT to be here. We do not like the "cut and run" talk, and we see how dangerous talk like that is. When people talk like that - and do so publicly - it emboldens the terrorists to attack Americans all the more. They realize that they cannot defeat us militarily. Their only hope is to turn the American public against the war and have us pull out. And that equals defeat. And that means more terror attacks than you can imagine.
I'm just trying to give you a different perspective. Please think about it. There is ALWAYS more than one side to any story. Please remember that as you move on through life, and always give the other side some thought before you commit to anything.
Have a GREAT Army day!! Huah!!

your teacher is basically saying what she feels. That doesnt make her a bad person, but she shouldnt have said that to a classroom. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and i would like to see our troops come home too. My husband is in the army and i would want more than anything for him to be with me right now. Your teachers words were best left out of a classroom setting. In the end, everything will work out.

I think she is lame.If you want to know what a President's responsibilities are regarding the military and service members? Look up US Commander in Chief on the net, library....
Also ask your parents for their view and explanation.Trust your parents to give you a straight answer.

I think it is wrong for your teacher to tell you his or her personal opinion about what is happening right now. Meaning, the last statement was inappropriate.
It is your teacher's job to make you think and come up with your own thoughts and ideas, not to fill your mind with his/her own ideas about subjects. They need to provide you with facts and you go from there.
It is healthy to provoke debate and generate thought, but not in this manner.

I think you have a crappy teacher for putting her personal views and feelings out there to her students. This is called indoctrination, and it's sadly a tactic used by many liberal educators to try to influence students with their own beliefs.
You need to research both sides of any platform, and decide for yourself what views you believe in.
