I got saved on January the first, but then "quit" a couple days afterward. I think its only because I have one question, though. I don't fully understand. If I was a saved man for 20 years, lets say, and only sinned (lied) once in that time, am I going to Heaven? Please give excerpts out of the Bible.

I feel saved though, I come on here everyday, and feel it, you know?
So, am I saved? (I feel more of a Christian than when I did get saved!)

Yes, you are. Salvation is like a Hebrew betrothal into marriage. It is just like BEING married and you are adopted as one of the family. If one is truly born again, you cannot be unborn.

Also remember, that when you put yourself into the care of your Lord, NO ONE can pull you from them.

"And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand. My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of My Father's hand."

If you stay in Jesus, you have eternal security. Now, you spoke of sinning here and there. Did you know that your works--good or bad--have nothing to do with your salvation?

Works are an evidence, not a means to an end. If it were works that gained salvation, how would you ever know there were enough? Who would set the arbitrary line? Would you ever feel secure in your walk?

Salvation via works is an absolutely false concept. How will you EVER know that you have done enough good, or if it will balance out the bad?

The truth is, before you accept Jesus as Savior, none of your good deeds are taken in to account, only the sin you have committed in violation to the law. After you accept Jesus as your Savior, your sins are deleted from the record and **READ CLOSELY** only the good you do in the Spirit remains. (confirm this in 1 Corinthians 3)

You cannot buy your way into heaven with tithes, keeping of traditions or rules, rituals, singing in the choir or good deeds. THAT is why Jesus had to come and die in our place.

Titus 3:5
Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us.

2 Timothy 1:9
Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began

So once you accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior on January 1st, 2007, that marked the day you were adopted into the family of God. The papers were drawn and signed, and there is no way to revoke it unless you do not wish to be in the family anymore. No one can tear up the pages but you. And I am pretty sure you do not want to do that, bro. :)

If you accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior you are saved. What do you mean you quit? You quit going to a particular church? You quit wanting to be a Christian?
Romans 10:9 If you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
Mark 16:16 Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.
John 14:6 Jesus said: "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."
We all sin, even after being saved. The difference should be that we don't willfully do it over and over again. We seek forgiveness, and we repent of our sins Asking God to help us in areas that we are weak. It is important to have a support group that are believers who can help you grow in your faith.
Best wishes to you, and God Bless.

The best way to answer this questions is with actual scripture. John 3:5 says "Except a man be born of the water and of the spirit he can not enter into the kingdom of heaven". In Acts chapter 2 Peter was preaching and was asked by those listening "What shall we do" "Then Peter said unto them Repent and be baptized everyone of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost" If you obey the plan of salvation that Peter outlines then you are saved. If you sin after you are saved the Bible says we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the Righteous. The bible also states that if we confess our sins He is faithful to forgive us. If you sin confess your sins to God, and repent of them and He WILL forgive you. We can't go by our "feelings" to determine whether we are saved or not. You have to determine this by the Word of God. If your "salvation experience" lines up with the Bible way of salvation then that is all that matters. I hope this helps man.

Sounds like there are a lot of things you don't understand. If you really gave your heart to Jesus in the first place, why did you "Quit", as you put it? Did you decide you wanted to sin a little more? Being a Christian is not like turning water on and off. Slow down a little, and start getting involved in some Bible study with other young Christians who are seeking similar answers.

You need to read and study the Bible way more and pray more. I wont find all the tests for you, cuz if you are serious, you will learn more if you do it yourself. I am a firm believer in this. But, no matter how long you are saved, you can lose your salvation by sinning. BUt, if you repent of your sins and turn from sin, then God will be able to bring you right into His fold again. But if you only say you are sorry and dont turn from your sins, God is aware of that, as He sees your heart. Many preach a message of once saved, always saved. not at all soo, devil isnt still saved is it. believing isnt enough either. We must love God enough to obey Him Obedience leads to blessings. Sin leads to death and destruction and hell. obedience brings curse. I am glad to see that you FEEL saved, but feelings dont mean anything. You must go on what GOd says in His word. You cant be more of a Christian. you are either Christian or you arent. A Christian is a follower of Jesus Christ, loving HIm, following Him and obeying Him, and living the life He lived for us by example. So, only you can say if you are saved or not, and if you cant say it easily, find out why?? If you got saved as you say and quit in a few days, doesnt sound serious to me. You just said the words. It must be meant in your heart and God always sees truth. always. But, if you want to be saved, you will be Just be willing to obey God and do whatever He calls you to do, even in having to sacrifice for Him. He has every answer we need to every problem. PRAY and Study up in Gods word.

Every Christian "backslides" or slips away from Christ every so often once they are saved... I have backslidden... we are human, we are flesh, we sin everyday... the bible even says all men sin...

If a man saved 20 years lies only one time, yes he will go to heaven... all our sins were cast upon Jesus when he was crucified... He was PERFECT and without sin... yet he died a sinners death so we may have eternal life with him... I would definately say talk to your preacher about what you are feeling, but if you feel different, then listen to it, that is God talking to you...

Be blessed my friend!

Try working on your relationship with God. Increase your understanding of the Bible. Jesus made forgiveness possible, but we must ask for it constantly as we are always imperfect in this life. Even after being "saved" sins are inevitable, and forgiveness still needed. I say find something non-denominational. I don't like being told what to believe, I like a little guidance and then pray and open up your heart. He will give you the insight you need if you give yourself to Him.

Once you have given your heart to Jesus you are saved! If you sin then you pray for forgiveness and the sin is washed away! That is why Jesus died on the cross! John3:16 For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son that whoever believes in Him will not perish but have everlasting life.

Salvation isn't about a feeling; feelings are emotional, fleshy, and fickle. Salvation is about a true change of heart in a person that realizes the need for their sins to be forgiven. It is also a life long commitment to doing things God's way in as much strength as you devote to learning God's word and allowing His Holy Spirit to do His work in and through you.
