Personally I have never listened to Imus. I am a middle aged White woman. I am personally ashamed of what Mr. Imus called those young ladies. For them (the team) to have come from behind and get so close to that basketball championship is truely a work of art. But Mr. Imus was WRONG, WRONG, WRONG to have called those young women such vila and awful names.
I was brought up to respect all races and we were not allowed to call other races by any improper names. I hopefully try to find the good in all people. Unless you do something to me - then I will give you the shirt off my back - no matter to whom!!
Mr. Imus deserves much more that he is getting. I hope these young women take some sort of legal action against this vile, vile man.

Since this is the Religion & Spirituality I'll go there to show how we should feel about race.. The very first man converted to Christ is Black Ethiopian. God thought he was important enough to spend Stephen to him in a miraculous method. I am not perfect and it's hard not to take special notice of a black person here in Salt Lake City. We are 97% white. Still I have to know that we are all special in God's eyes. He would have died for just you or just me if we would have been the only sinners in the world. Imus messed up big! He has also apologized for his wrong. As a society we should forgive him? Does that release him from the consequences of the action, NO! But is this wrong worthy of the destruction of the rest of his life? That is the question we must answer as a people. Jim

well I don't dislike black people either but there is a point where you get so sensitive about something someone said that you start acting like a child about it. Al Sharpton has no other leg to stand on but race so he pulls things out and makes them a race issue, I have a personal problem with this man, after all when the duke boys were charged with raping the poor black single mom Al sharpton called for them to be put away for life well come to find out after dna testing there was 4 different DNA samples obtained from her and none of them were the accused. now is anyone calling for Al Sharpton to step down???? NOPE its a double standard When these girls go home and put in their favorite cd do they not get called and protriad as far worse than nappy headed Ho's. the words nappy and Ho's are far from racial comments any ones hair can be nappy and any women can be a ho regardless of race. I believe in free speech and if Imus is Fired so should all the rappers, Chris rock, Eddie Murphy Eminem and the list goes on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

I'm not sure if there is a question in your "letter" to answer, but I did want to make one point.
I disagree with having Imus taken off the air. I think that the things that he said were horrible, and I find it despicable that he thought he was being funny. I have friends of all races, creeds, ethnicities, religions, etc, and I do not condone hate in any way shape or form.
However, I am terrified of the direction this country is headed. America was founded on a few basic principles, one of those being freedom of speech. Once we start to put limits on "freedom", we have lost what makes this country unique and great. Right now, our men and women are in Iraq fighting to bring freedom to the people there. We are losing mothers, fathers, brothers and sisters every hour to give the country a taste of the liberties we take for granted. Iraq did not become the country it is overnight. There was a slow progress of choices and freedoms being removed one after another.
This is what we have started to do here. We are slowly but surely losing the basic rights we hold dear in this country. We are taking away people's rights to choose, and that is a very dangerous path to follow.
While I detest the things that were said (against both blacks AND women), I hold dear his right to have said them. It is important to note that I hold just as dear the right for others to publicly bazsh him for making these remarks, but I want him to keep his right to say them.
When we start allowing government and corporations to control what we are permitted to say, think and feel, we give them a power that no man, woman or child should have.It is a slippery slope, and I hope we can figure out a way to keep our balance.
Just my opinion, and I hope you respect my right to say it. :-)

It is not race but poverty and drug prohibition that are destroying our nation. The drug war is immoral and is costing many American lives. We should treat drug abuse like it is, a disease not a crime. Then we would see much less violence. We need to look out for those who our impoverished in our country and give more to the needy.
Imus has apologized but unfortunately for him he will have shame for the rest of his life, having a very difficult time getting a new job. But lets be real, it isn't only white people who divide, many minorities including black, hispanic and all other people are guilty. often we make too big a deal out of race and that turns things into a competition.

well I dont reallysee your question but
I am a white guy and I have a lot of friends from different background.
As far as im concerned equality has been and still is going up for people of all backgrounds including blacks. Justthink less than 40 years ago blacks where totally segregated. Only thing is today youstill have a lot of older people from that generation but as time moves forward people will move closer together.
Black people have helped out the world in plenty of days... havent you learned of any of the inventors or anything during black history month! (feb.)
God Bless

I don't care for Don Imus--for that matter, I don't care for "shock jocks" or most talk radio DJs at all--but I think he handled himself honorably during this scandal. He admitted that he made a bad comment, acknowledged that it was unfair and hurtful, and even said that his employers were certainly within their rights to punish him. When CBS suspended him, he didn't whine; he took it like a man and said, "Well, I deserved it." But I don't think he's a raving racist. I don't think he's a bad and hateful man. I think he made a mistake and is now suffering because of it. But I admire that he is not blaming his mistake on others or trying to sweep it under the rug.
"My goal is to goad people into saying something that ruins their life." ~ Don Imus

I feel like what Imus was saying was to the point that he thought the girls were ugly. He referred to the other team as cute. I don't see the big deal but I actually dislike Imus very, very much. But I have chosen to not jump on him for a rediculous reason. It is his opinion that they were all trailor trash looking women. Who cares.
Of course the girls were insulted. I would be too. Yes, it was wrong, but not for the reasons Al Sharpton has declared.

Then, shouldn't Jesse Jackson be censured for his anti-Semitism? And what about Sharpton and his racism on the radio? Why is he still on the air? Imus was wrong, no doubt about it but it seems to be selective punishment. If he is fired, shouldn't all racists be fired?

soak the shirt in a tub filled with warm water and detergent to reactivate the colours then rinse the shirt and add 1 cup of white vinegar to seal the colours in this should help to keep the white from the blue ,make sure that the rinse water is clear no soap residues should be left behind to avoid stains in the bleu . Don't dry the shirt in the dryer the loge will peel off with the heat and always wash it inside out and add vinegar to the final rinse when you are washing dark coloured clothes.
