My dog was spayed a month ago now and to be honest there's no change in her personality.Your dogs hating of other dogs is a learned behaviour, she either hates them through fear, defence, aggresion,or maybe she even hates bitches. My dog also doesn't like other dogs, she was attacked as a pup and has never forgot this over the years as she got more confident she's also became more aggresive. How ever we ended up bringing a lab x whippet home at 10weeks old and she's been absoutly fine with him,it helps to get the opposite sex. When your dog has been spayed perhaps enroll in a training class with friendly dogs,or see a behaviourist as this will help her temperment much more then having her spayed.Good luck and hope she recovers well.

Shouldn't change the personality at all except for the better - should make her more content to be a homebody.
Fighting with other dogs can be due to jostling for alpha position in the pack; spaying and neutering helps curb these drives.
However if you don't have another dog and she's not around them much it could be that she is afraid of them; there is a fight or flight instinct and she may be choosing to fight.
I would suggest an obedience class once she has recuperated; it will give her an opportunity for socialization with other dogs and humans, also the trainer can see/diagnose what is going on with her and give appropriate advice & tips (hard for us to do without seeing the behavior)
Congratulations on being part of the spay/neuter solution, I hope she sails right through her surgery.

I have a female Collie mix that got spayed when she was six months old and her personality didn't change at all. She's now 8 years old and still acts like she's 8 weeks old. You just have to be careful with the stitches when they get out of surgery and she might be kind of lethargic for a day or two but she'll perk right back up. As for getting along with other dogs, getting spayed isn't really going to change that, just start bringing her around other dogs and she'll get used to it, mine did.

Normally it is more the boys that get effected from being neutered, then girls do from being spayed. It may make calmer and definitely get rid of all her symptoms of heat. But the reason for boys becoming calmer is neutering gets rid of testosterone, which females don't have much of anyway. Getting along with other dogs is more of a training issue then anything else. So I would reccomend you look into some training classes. Good luck.
PS. I have a collie/great pyranees mix, and just LOVE collies :)

Personality does NOT change after a dogs is spay/neutered.Personality is what it is...period.
If she doesn't get along well with other dogs now she likely won't after spaying.
Getting along with other dogs has a lot to do with proper socialization and training around other dogs right from puppyhood.

I got my male bulldog fixed a year ago and it did not change his personality. The only thing different is he is a little thicker in the chest.

It all depends on your dog, as there are no yes/no/black/white answers to health.
As for another dog later on, keep her well socialised and no difference should be made.
