DUMMY,
4 OF THE RESPONDERS HAVE THE CORRECT RESPONSE. IT'S THE PHOSPHORIC ACID AND THE SUGAR THAT CAUSES THE MOST DAMAGE. THE ACID IN THE DIET COLAS IS JUST AS DANGEROUS.
THE CARBONATION CAUSES NO DAMAGE TO THE ENAMEL OF TEETH.

Yes, the acid and sugars in sodas as well juices can erode teeth something terrible. Try substituting tea or water, and cut back on the soda. Using a straw is good because it prevents the soda from touching your teeth, and rootbeer actually is the least harmful on your teeth I believe. But just the same, chew some Trident or brush that stuff off of your teeth when you're done. :)

Yes it does.
Time magazine reported on this a few years back. The worst culprit was Mountain Dew Code Red. It erodes your enamel nearly twice as fast as your normal sodas (which stinks since it's my favorite).
It's been a while since I read the article but I believe Mug Root Beer ranked 2nd worst.
If you want to see what soda is capable of, pour a can of soda on a car. It'll substitute as a paint thinner.
Not saying to stop drinking it all together (Personally, I love the stuff) but don't be drinking tons of it every day.

Yes. As a diabetic, you'll probably pee more so you need all the free water you can get. Carbonation makes absorbing the water less efficient. I bought a soda stream and use the diet cola, but just don't carbonate it much. Kind of tastes the same. Don't drink "zero" as it contains salt and is just as bad.
