my boyfriend's uncle is a hunter and was saying that he knew a guy that shot a bow arrow at this eagle an killed it,well that guy was fined 150 thousand dollars to bail out and 20 years in prison,because the american eagle is the bird of america,so i just wanted to know if it was true.

That sounds right. The fine for killing or injuring the American Eagle is very stiff.

It is illegal to even have an american bald eagle feather let alone to kill one. The American Bald Eagle is begining to make a comeback thanks to the laws (endangered species act ) that already set in place. Fines are up to $25,000 for civil and up to $50,000 plus one year jail for crimimal charges.

What a moron. If the guy shot the bird, then he deserves to go to prison. You shouldn't kill endangered species unless you are being directly physically threatened (in other words, only if it's trying to kill you).

I don't know if the fine is exact, but I do know that you can't even have an eagle feather in your possession without proper documentation, and permission.
