Nanuet is a hamlet in Rockland County, New York, 19 miles north of Manhattan, and 2 miles north of the Jersey border. Nanuet is located between West Nyack, New York and Spring Valley, New York to the east and west, respectively, and Pearl River, New York and New City, New York to the south and north, respectively. Nanuet is named after a local American Indian leader, Chief Nanawit.

They've given you the right pronunciation. The only big thing Nanuet has is the Nanuet Mall (along Rte. 59)
