AVG is a good free anti virus. Program but you will need other protection too.. Go to www.download.com and also get spybot search and destroy. Then look for a free firewall too. I like ZoneAlarm. It runs itself...then go to www.lavasoft.com and get Ad_awareSE personal. Download them and then update them. AVG can be set up to update and run its self but you'll have to do the other two manually. Just click search for updates.. In Spybot after you download updates click on immunize on the main Spybot page and there may be a window that pops up saying so many things have been blocked or can be blocked.. If it does then click immunize at the top this loads the definitions.

YEs, it is one of the most trusted Anti-virus software right now. I would trust an AVG Anti-virus on my PC more than I would Norton. Norton downloads its own viruses during software updates that cant be Quarantined. I use it myself and have been for years!

I also have use the free version of AVG Anti-Virus for years without a hitch. Updates are frequent to keep the virus database up-to-date but these take only a few seconds on DSL. Grisoft is the company that has provided this great tool and their website is at http://www.grisoft.com. I find that AVG is one of the few anti-virus programs that DOESN'T muck your system up and slow it down noticeably.

It is not a firewall, and cannot replace a firewall. The Windows firewall should meet your basic needs, but if you need something more sophisticated, I'd recommend one from the website listed below.

However, as an anti-virus program, it's one of the best out there, and in my experience has a higher detection rate than Notron's software. You can - and should - use it permanently.

yes. Download Norton, AVG , Avast which are free antivirus software. They do protect your computer and you can keep updating them once in three days or so. Ad-aware, Ewido are free spyware removers. You can download free softwares at http://fixit.in/antivirus.html and http://fixit.in/spywareremover.html

I have it on my computer, so far it has not had any conflict with the apps I use. As for downloading from their site no problem (have had it on my computer for about 4 years now).

If you have a firewall I would recommend Zone Labs Zone Alarm.
