I need to do web browsing and downloading, so security is important and I use a lot of multimedia. I also need to use MS office (or be able to open and save word/excel docs) for work.

The easiest linux to use and its simple even for newbies is linspire chck it out below. if you want to go the no cost method there is also freespire, its not as full as linspire but its the same program. Both of these programs are far superior to billy boys winDOZE and dont use ie or ms live junk that has more problems and security issues than a chinese mathbook has symbols!
welcome to the real world~ Bill Gates is rich enough! remember windoze 95 the 95 was % complete as sold kinda like all his products 1/2 baked ~ oh yeah and the word progs etc are free unlike ms at hundreds of $$$

Microsoft windows Professional.
If you already have anti-virus installed on your computer, you don't have to worry about security. the only thing you have to do is to scan and remove viruses on your computer everytime you turn it on and off.

If you are used to Windows, get Windows XP. I would really use Linux, if you can get the hang of it.
