No. It's nice to believe in a life after death but, if you even begin to ask some basic questions, you'll realize it's not what is described in various religous text.

For example:
1) What state are we in and others we know when dead? At what point of our mental development? What about babies that died who have experienced little mental development? Or people that where mentally disabled? Would a savant still be a savant after death? Would a person brain damaged as an adult be restored, if so to what point in their mental consciousness age 21? age 16?
2) If emotions such as hate, love and, jealousy define us here, why wouldn't they define us in an afterlife? Therefore, conflict would still exist. Let's suppose 2 people loved the same person in an afterlife, then what?
3) What would you do in an afterlife? If it's eternal, you'll be awful bored eventually.

I can ask questions about size, if it is available to humans or believers only, what was the motivation and background of those describing an afterlife.

Seriously, I haven't even begun to scratch the surface about lack of scientific evidence.

Therefore, I doubt any kind of afterlife.

I'm not sure if I'm suppost to believe this (i'm catholic) but i'll give you a mixture, and therys, of my own thoughts.
Sometimes I believe that after we die we walk the earth (dependings on sins, sometimes depending on nothing) endlessly or are assigned to help a living person through their life, like a care taker.
I think that in heaven we will find our family eventually and yes, live with them in and through eternal happiness as we over look the current world- and it's disasterous mistakes.

YES! ABSOLUTELY! The only way to live forever is to know Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior. (read Romans 10:10)

You must be saved or born again to enter the Kingdom of God. This world and everything in it will pass away (be gone) but God and heaven will last forever.

If your friend or loved one is also saved or born again then you will spend a lot more time with them in heaven that you did here on earth.

Pray this to be saved: Lord Jesus, I am sorry I have sinned. I ask you to forgive me. I accept you as my Lord today and thank you for dieing for me. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.

If you pray that prayer (or one like it) then you will live forever in heaven with God, Jesus and your saved loved ones.

You then need to find a church and begin attending and learning about the bible.

YES. It DOES happen. When someone dies, they are met by loved ones as they enter the spirit world. A person is not left alone to fend for themselves. There are people in the spirit world to comfort and help one.

It's possible. I think this question should be in a different area - like spiritual for instance. It's a good question though.
