It depends on the guy. Whatever designs there are, they have to be meticulously maintained, so never, not even once, is there any stubble or razor bumps from ingrown hair. Using a buf-puf on the relevant areas sloughs off the surface skin to prevent this. But, yes, short, as in 1/4" or less hair length is more disciplined-looking. The "landing strip" just says "hooker", in my opinion. Different designs are, again, depending on the viewer as for their desirability. Just be yourself. What do you want to do? Then do it. For most guys, though a big shaggy bunch is not all that appealing. Hairy is a guy thing, not so much a girl thing, all over, not just on that area.
