Julia, after a while here you stop falling for the game. If you have been on other similar forums you already know its what to expect. If you find yourself falling into it, its time to stop and give it a break. We are only human.
Mostly I just choose to ignore it. Sometimes I play along for the fun of it or because its an interesting subject or even because as obnoxious as a someone may be, lol, I really like them anyway...other times I answer as if the question is meant to be answered seriously even when I know its not.

Because my friend, when people like yourself go out on the attack on 'someone' or 'something', that they say they don't believe are right, or don't believe exists... you have to smile a little and ask yourself just why, would you even bother... if you really thought God wasn't here at all?
More to the point though, by attacking us, you show us all, just how very much you need us to respond... you acknowledge us... and our beliefs, and do so, inside your own insecurity, since, only insecure people attack others without provocation anyway... and you also demonstrate to us, a desperate need to belong as well... to the creator... you know, that Deity, that you don't believe exists?
Why else would all your waking time be taken up with thinking of him otherwise? Unless of course, you have an seriously empty life.
And because, every time you do attack both him and us, you recognise Him... you say his name... and every time you do, you make Him stronger:-)

People become religious because of a lack inside- so some man out there has to tell them how things are...how many priest and nuns have had abusive histories? many. religion only separates people- look at the world- p. bush is a religious man and has created this war- where is the love? Hay, I say the same thing about Islam.

Julia,
This is true of religious, non-religious, and agnostics as well. It seems that everyone get "riled up" on this site about some of the silliest things in the world. Occaisionally I do too. Especially when my blood sugars are too low and I say and do things that I normally would not. I enjoy some of your interesting comments. Have a great weekend!
Thanks,
Eds, Simply a Christian.
EDIT:
The Irreverent certainly has a weird answer to this question in my opinion....
Thanks,
Ed

I don't fall for it. Sometimes I just play along...hate to spoil their fun. And hopefully they'll learn a little something along the way. The truth is bound to rub off on them a little--they're far more interested in the truth than they let on. If they weren't, they wouldn't bother. You've heard the expression, "Me thinks thou doth protest too much." Very fitting on here.

I try to intercept the honest seekers before they get disgusted here and leave.... in the mean time I ... occasionally.... bash back at the bashers and play with the bait of the baiters... good way to work out my own frustrations

Is answering a question honestly, being wound up? Or is the possibility of name-calling and telling people who's right and who's wrong spiritual being wound up? Oh, well. . .But good question. Why the need to defend?

I enjoy answering these questions, even the ones designed to rile me up. If I'm passionate about what I believe, well, that's not a bad thing at all. I enjoy sharing that passion with others, and if they disagree with me, that's their right. But, if my answers don't satisfy, or the person asking the question doesn't like the answer I post, well, that's their problem. Don't like my answer, don't ask the question.

I just answer the question. Some things bother me, but getting angry because someone is getting "slick with the lip" behind the safety of the internet is useless.
Peace-Have a good one.
