I firm verbal correction might do the trick, but not always. If you find yourself correcting her verbally more often than you feel you should (in my experience, when this happens the dog resumes whining mere seconds after repeated verbal corrections) then you can keep a leash on her and when she begins to whine give her a leash correction. This should work better, but may still take some time. If she's close enough, you could give her a gentle (but still firm) correction with the tips of your fingers, this works as well.

Just remember not to give her attention any time she whines if you want her to stop altogether, and no attention until she hasn't whined for several moments (so she won't associate the attention with her whining). Good luck, I know how difficult whining is to deal with.

There isn't one easy answer, it's not something you can just fix like that. Dogs whine for reasons.

a. maybe she needs to go out
b. maybe she is hurt
c. maybe she is hungry
d. maybe she needs more exercise
e. maybe she is thirsty
f. maybe she wants attention.
g. maybe it's a learned behavior, like she would whine, and you gave her a treat, so now, she whines an expects a treat.

Rule out any of the basics, make sure she is fed, look and pat her over to see if she winces at any of your touches, make sure she is peeing and pooping regularly. play with her, walk her. If all else fails, take her tot he vet, ask your Vet, to give her a thorough look over because shes been whimpering for no reason.

If you find out there is nothing medical going on, i would say use Google or yahoo to search NILIF. It's program that teaches your dog it's place without neglecting, or harming your pet. NILIF, really helps with a lot of issues. Good Luck.

She is whining to communicate something to you. Pay attention to what circumstances she is whining in to find the cause. Remove the casue and the whining will stop.

Also if you never want to hear whining then maybe you shouldn't have dog. It is one of the many unfun parts of being a dog owner!

Dogs do whatever brings them rewards such as food, attention, and love.

You must figure out what you (or others) are doing that rewards whining, and do the opposite at all times.

Then Daisy won't whine!

You should take her to a vet and make sure there are no medical complications. Otherwise a good trainer could help you with her. It might be that she is feeling separation anxiety f rom her birth family or even you if you are away a lot. Please be patient with her. SOmething is disturbing her or else she wouldn't whine.

Sorry but some dogs are needier than others. Give her as much love as you are able or give her to someone who has the time and patience for her.

There is a rescue near you who would take your dog in a hot tick, especially if you are at the end of your rope. Don't be selfish, give your dog up to someone who can love her.

you should have thought about it before you bought the dog, yorkies are very loud, yappy dogs. if you plan on keeping it i'd suggest trying to comfort her when she thinks something's wrong, and scold her for excessive barking and point a finger at her when you tell her to stop. she'll learn but it takes time so be patient.

Has is occurred to you that she might be in pain? Take her to the vet so you can at least rule that out.
