That is a stereotype. You should consider taking a religion class and studying up on this more. Judging from this and other questions you have asked, you obviously do not know very much about Islam in general. Most Muslims don't have contempt for the world at all. Only the most fundamental ones do, and most of them do only because they are not in positions of influence or power in the world. Very little of this actually has anything to do with their religion, which they mostly just use as an excuse. Christians have done the same thing at times in history when they felt their hegemony and power was at risk. Fundamental extremists feel like the west runs the world and manipulates their economies and cultures to suit their greedy desires. Whether or not this is true is certainly a matter of debate, but one thing is certain: all Muslims do not feel this way. Most are just like any other person. They just want to go about their business, live their life, and have people leave them alone.
By the way, don't you mean 21st century? The 20th century is long gone! :-)

"Why does Islam have so much contempt for the rest of the world living in the 20th century?"
Islam is a religion - based on texts - it doesnt have feelings like you and I. You have proven your assertion in any case.
If you mean Muslims there are 1.3bn Muslims in the world who lead peaceful ordinary lives . There are some wars in the world involving Muslims but these are political issues. Every other religion is involved in wars too.
"It seems they only sympathize with dictators and communists."
Really? Didnt you see Muslim celebrating when Saddam fell? The Muslim world has many dictators - but they are hated by the people (thats why they are dictators and dont hold elections: they'd lose)
and as regards your comments about communism - they take awar all your credibility - Muslims fought communism an atheistic philosphy strongly - the US backed the Muhajideen (including Bin Laden) in Afghanistan in the 80s against the Russians for this reason.
I think you need to stop reading right wing newspapers and see others' sides to life - until you are not living a free life

If all you listen to is the media and the TV then what else do you expect? People are not interested in hearing about Muslims who wish to stop terrorism and spread the true message of the Qu'ran rather than the corrupted and manipulated one that the deluded terrorists use to justify their evil actions. People hear something on the TV and they instantly believe that there is no other reality to it and never bother researching deeper into the facts and finding out that Islam nor the Qu'ran preaches Muslims to be intolerant towards other religion. It teaches us to respect others and their beliefs, much more so than I have seen a lot of Christians doing on this site who keep accusing Islam such as this guy "Look at the qua ran and you will see why, it is built on hate not love like the Bible". There are other religions other than yours and your faith isn't all that great especially if people like you speak for all Christians. You can't build a society on hate so we need to understand each other a bit better. There are few Muslims who do have contempt and they have a personal grudge and have not accepted the message of the Qu'ran.

A religion that gives everything to the will of God is subject to the believing that it takes a strong leader to lead the nation to a an ideal direction. That leader they have to believe so much that he is the one chosen to straighten the path. That type of leader must be charismatic enough to be listened to and to be followed. That is why even early Christians have been subjected to the greatness of the dictators such as Constantine and those who succeeded him including those who have the control over the religion. Islamic religion had greatly embraced the changed that even to the time of Hitler, they made an agreement not to be adversaries with each other because the saw Hitler as a pwerful man (likewise with the Vatican in Rome) because of their common enemy, the Jews.
Now that they have been graced with the prime source of economic leadership (oil) and have the ability to make the world a hostage to their dictates on who to give the graces given to them, the more that they have to believe that they are the Ones destined to shape the world and all other religion are false which they popularly inject into the mind of their children.

I'm a Muslim and have no contempt for the rest of the world living in the 21st century. What I have contempt for is taking drugs, legalized prostitution, pornography available to 2-year-olds, abusing the freedom of speech to insult others, high crime rates, domestic violence, kids having sex at the age of 11, hubbies cheating on their wives with their neighbours, wives cheating on their husbands with their neighbours, exploitation of media to spread hatred and lies against each other ...
Note: the above list doesn't imply to all people of course, but you get the idea.

Self-righteousness? Similar to that of Evangelists or radical Jews?
Dictators they still seem to need. Look at Iraq. Communists/atheists they don't just hate, it's beyond that. Don't go to the Islamic world saying you are an atheist. Big mistake.
Still, not everybody is the same. We generalise a lot.

I wasn't aware of this. I was only aware of a small sect called terrorism that has complety destroyed the Islam religion and therefore can only be called terrorists and not Muslims.
Terrorists have hate the rest of the world. Not all Muslims.
Some may dislike the west, but they won't blow themselves up over it.
I guess the million or so Muslims in the U.S. hate democracy huh?

It's not the religion it's the countries. Most people believe Islam is only practiced in the Middle East when in fact this is wrong. There are other countries that practice the religion but they don't do things that would grab headlines around the world.

It is not all of Islam, just the extremists in the Middle East. Whether or not you realize it, about 80% of the worlds Muslims live outside the Middle Eastern area, in places like Indonesia, India, Africa, and the United States.

Islam does not have so much contempt for the rest of the world. You would know that if you actually read the Quran & went out there and met the Muslim community. Girl don't be so ignorant & believe what Fox News tells you.
