Yes, but it may take quit awhile. I was in an accident and the doctor took most of it out, but 2 pieces were left in because they didn't show up on x-ray, so he didn't want o probe for them and make the wound bigger. They did work their way to the surface, and they were bigger under the skin than at the surface. You need to keep the area clean and you have to decide if you can extract it, or if it would be better to have a doctor do it.

It may not come out on its own, depends where it is, many years ago i was changing a light buld and it shattered in my hand, a trip to hospital was the result and to this day I have a small bit of glass in my thumb. It is surrounded by muscle tissue and going nowhere so i left it alone. Other option is to get a small operation to have it removed, or it may dislodge itself and work its way out.

Normally we would reccomend that you go to your doctor or local A+E unit to have the glass removed.

Glass can sometimes work its own way out, but having it removed will reduce the pain, reduce the healing time, and reduce the risk of infection. It would be better for you if you had it taken out.

Good luck hon

No it won't come out, but you shouldn't try to get it out yourself either. The glass could break as you pull it out, or it could be like an iceberg - the piece you can see is smaller than the hidden portion. You should probably have it removed by your doctor I'm afraid.

Not necesarily as my brother got some in his finger and we thought we had got it out. About six months later he was still complaining from pain and had a lump. He went to the docs and they said that the glass was still in. He had to have a small op to get it out.

Yes, but it is really painful. It looks like a pimple or a blister because your body is trying to push it out and infects it. Its just easier to get twisers and pull it out.

Your body, in some cases, can expel glass, but it cannot dissolve glass.
