Your oral surgeon, periodontist or dentist are most likely considering a bone graft using "your bone" which would be taken from your iliac crest or hip.

Additional information: There are other materials available used to replace the bone loss, but most periodontist and surgeons prefer to use your own bone since it's more likely to take. I'm guessing you are planning to have an implant procedure and there is not enough ridge to support this, that would be one reason for preferring your bone over artificial or cadaver bone. This is done quite often with implant procedures. Most patients complain of some pain or discomfort for a few days, mostly from the removal site. The majority of cases do well with this type procedure. Most of the failed cases are with patients who smoke. You should discuss this thoroughly with your oral surgeon or periodontist planning to preform this procedure.

DEPENDING ON THE TYPE OF REPAIR TO BE DONE IT WILL INVOLVE MAJOR SURGERY SINCE THE PELVIC BONE IS TO BE OPERATED ON.
